This page is designed to assist with the various abbreviations that come up throughout the game. If you see anything that should be modified please let the commissioner know. Thanks to Andy Bushby for putting this together!
Hitting
Category Name Description Formula
 2B  Doubles  A batter is credited with a double when he hits the ball into play and safely reaches second base without an intervening error or attempt to put out another baserunner.    
 3B  Triples  A batter is credited with a triple when he hits the ball into play and safely reaches third base without an intervening error or attempt to put out another baserunner.    
 AB  At Bats  A batter is charged with an at-bat when he makes an out (unless credited with a sacrifice bunt or sacrifice fly), or reaches base on a base hit, on a fielding error or on a fielder's choice. A batter is not charged with an at-bat if he is credited with a walk or hit by pitch, or reaches base on catcher's interference.    
 AB/GIDP  At-Bats per Grounded Into Double Play  Divide the number of at-bats by the number of times grounding into double-plays.   AB/GIDP 
 AB/HR  At-Bats per Home Run  Divide the number of at-bats by the number of home runs hit.   AB/HR 
 AB/RBI  At-Bats per Runs Batted In  Divide the number of at-bats by the number of runs batted in.   AB/RBI 
 AO  Fly Outs  The total of all fly balls hit by the batter into outs, not including line drives.    
 AVG  Batting Average  Divide the number of base hits by the total number of at bats.   H/AB 
 BB  Bases on Balls (Walks)  A batter is credited with a base on balls (walk) when the pitcher throws four pitches outside of the strike zone during one plate appearance.    
 CS  Caught Stealing  A runner is charged with a caught stealing if he is put out attempting to advance to the next base without the ball having been hit into play.    
 G  Games Played  The total number of games in which the player appeared, whether as a starter or as a substitute.    
 GIDP  Ground into Double Plays  A batter is charged with grounding into a double play when he hits the ball into play on the ground, with none out or one out, and two outs occur before the play becomes dead, without an intervening error or misplay between putouts.    
 GO  Ground Outs  The total of all ground balls hit by the batter into outs, not including bunts.    
 GO/AO  Ground Outs/Fly Outs  Divide the total of all ground balls hit by the batter into outs, and not including bunts, by the total of all fly balls hit by the batter into outs, and not including line drives.   GO/AO 
 GSH  Grand Slam Home Runs  A batter is credited with a grand slam when he hits a home run with the bases loaded.    
 H  Hits  A batter is credited with a hit when he reaches first base (or any other base) safely on a ball hit into play in fair territory, after it touches the ground or a fence before being touched by a fielder, or which clears a fence, and when the fielder could not retire the batter with ordinary effort.    
 HBP  Hit by Pitch  The number of times the batter reached base as a result of being hit by a pitch.    
 HR  Home Runs  A batter is credited with a home run when he hits the ball over the outfield fence in fair territory, or hits it into play and subsequently scores on the play without an intervening error.    
 IBB  Intentional Walks  A batter is credited with an intentional base on balls (intentional walk) when the pitcher throws four pitches outside of the strike zone during one plate appearance, and the pitcher makes no attempt to throw the last pitch to the batter into the strike zone but purposely throws the ball wide to the catcher outside the catcher's box.    
 LIPS  Late Inning Pressure Situations  The batter's batting average in Late Inning Pressure Situations, which is any at-bat in the seventh inning or later, with the batting team either leading by one run, tied, or has the potential tying run on base, at bat, or on deck.    
 LOB  Left On Base  The total number of baserunners who were on base by any means, and did not score and/or were not put out, during all at-bats in which the batter made an out.    
 NP  Number of Pitches  The total number of pitches thrown during all of the batter's plate appearances.    
 OBP  On-base Percentage  Divide the total number of hits, bases on balls and times hit by pitch by the total of at-bats, bases on balls, times hit by pitch and sacrifice flies.   H+BB+HBP / AB+BB+HBP+SF 
 OPS  On-base Plus Slugging Percentage  Add the on-base percentage and slugging percentage, treating both numbers as integers.   OBP+SLG 
 PA/SO  Plate Appearances per Strikeout  Divide the total number of appearances by the number of strikeouts.   PA/SO 
 R  Runs Scored  The total number of runs scored by the player.    
 RBI  Runs Batted In  A batter is awarded an RBI on any run that scores as a direct result of a single, double, triple or home run; on a sacrifice fly or a sacrifice bunt on which a runner scores from third base; on a groundout (with less than two outs) on which a runner scores from third base; or on a hit-by-pitch or walk with the bases loaded.    
 SAC  Sacrifice Bunts  A batter is credited with a sacrifice when, before two are out, the batter advances one or more runners with a bunt and is put out at first base, or would have been put out except for a fielding error.    
 SB  Stolen Bases  A runner is credited with a stolen base when he advances to the next base, without the ball being hit into play, and unaided by a hit, a putout, an error, a force out, a fielder's choice, a passed ball, a wild pitch or a balk.    
 SB%  Stolen Base Percentage  Divide the total number of stolen bases by the player by the total number of stolen base attempts.   SB/SBA or SB/(SB+CS) 
 SF  Sacrifice Flies  A batter is credited with a sacrifice fly when he hits a fly ball or line drive with less than two outs that is caught by an outfielder, or by an infielder running into the outfield, and a runner scores after the catch.    
 SLG  Slugging Percentage  Divide the total bases recorded by the batter by the total number of at-bats.   TB/AB 
 SO  Strikeouts  A batter is charged with a strikeout when three strikes are recorded against him by the pitcher.    
 TB  Total Bases  A batter is credited with one total base for each single, two total bases for each double, three total bases for each triple and four total bases for each home run.   H+(2B*2)+(3B*3)+(HR*4) 
 TP  Triple Play  A batter is charged with hitting into a triple play when he hits the ball into play with no outs and three outs occur before the play becomes dead, without an intervening error or misplay between putouts.    
 TPA  Total Plate Appearances  Add the total number of at-bats, bases on balls, times hit by pitch and sacrifice flies.    
 XBH  Extra Base Hits  Add the total number of doubles, triples and home runs.   2B+3B+HR 

 
Pitching
Category Name Description Formula
 AO  Fly Outs  The total of all fly balls hit into outs against the pitcher by opposing batters, not including line drives.    
 APP  Appearances  The number of games in which a pitcher appeared but was not the starting pitcher.    
 AVG  Opponents Batting Average  Divide the total number of hits allowed by the pitcher by the total number of opponent at-bats.   H/BF 
 BB  Bases on Balls (Walks)  A pitcher is charged with a base on balls (walk) when he throws four pitches outside of the strike zone during one plate appearance.    
 BB/9  Walks per Nine Innings  Divide the total number of bases on balls (walks) allowed by the pitcher by his total number of innings pitched and multiply by nine.   (BB/IP)*9 
 BF  Batters Faced  To determine the total number of batters faced by a pitcher, multiply innings pitched by three, and add all hits and walks allowed, batters hit by pitch and the number of batters that reached base on error against the pitcher.    
 BK  Balks  A pitcher is charged with a balk when, with a runner on base, the pitcher, while touching the pitching rubber, makes any motion naturally associated with his pitch and fails to make such delivery.    
 CG  Complete Games  A pitcher is credited with a complete game when he is the starting pitcher for his team and is the only pitcher for his team.    
 CGL  Complete Game Losses  A pitcher is credited with a complete game loss when he is the starting pitcher for his team and is the only pitcher for his team and his team loses the game.    
 CS  Caught Stealing  The total number of opposing baserunners caught stealing while the pitcher is in the game; a runner is charged with a caught stealing if he is put out attempting to advance to the next base without the ball having been hit into play.    
 ER  Earned Runs  The total number of earned runs allowed by the pitcher. An earned run is a run for which the pitcher is held accountable, and shall be charged every time a runner reaches home base by the aid of a hit, sacrifice bunt, sacrifice fly, stolen base, putout, fielder's choice, base on balls, hit batter, balk or wild pitch (including a wild pitch on third strike which permits a batter to reach first base) before fielding chances have been offered to put out the offensive team. In determining earned runs, the inning should be reconstructed without the errors (including catcher's interference) and passed balls, and the benefit of the doubt should always be given to the pitcher in determining which bases would have been reached by errorless play.    
 ERA  Earned Run Average  The total number of earned runs allowed by the pitcher, divided by his total innings pitched, multiplied by nine.   (ER/IP)*9 
 G  Games Played  The total number of games in which the pitcher appeared, whether as the starter or as a reliever.    
 GF  Games Finished  A pitcher is credited with a game finished if he is the last relief pitcher for his team in a game and was not the starting pitcher.    
 GIDP  Grounded Into Double Plays  The total number of double plays hit into by opposing batters while the pitcher is in the game; a batter is charged with grounding into a double play when he hits the ball into play on the ground, with none out or one out, and two outs occur before the play becomes dead, without an intervening error or misplay between putouts    
 GO  Ground Outs  The total of all ground balls hit into outs against the pitcher by opposing batters, not including bunts.    
 GO/AO  Ground Outs/ Fly Outs Ratio  Divide the total of all ground balls hit into outs against the pitcher by opposing batters, and not including bunts, by the total of all fly balls hit into outs against the pitcher by opposing batters, and not including line drives.   GO/AO 
 GS  Games Started  The total number of games in which the pitcher was the first to appear in the game for his team.    
 GSH  Grand Slams  The number of home runs allowed by the pitcher with the bases loaded.    
 H  Hits  The total number of hits allowed by the pitcher; the pitcher is charged with a hit allowed when the batter reaches first base (or any other base) safely on a ball hit into play in fair territory, after it touches the ground or a fence before being touched by a fielder, or which clears a fence, and when the fielder could not retire the batter with ordinary effort.    
 H/9  Hits per Nine Innings  Divide the total number of hits allowed by the pitcher by his total number of innings pitched and multiply by nine.   (H/IP)*9 
 HB  Hit Batsmen  The number of batters hit by a pitch.    
 HLD  Hold  A relief pitcher is credited with a hold any time he enters a game in a save situation, records at least one out and leaves the game never having relinquished the lead. A pitcher cannot finish the game and receive credit for a hold, nor can he earn a hold and a save in the same game.    
 HR  Home Runs  A pitcher is charged with yielding a home run any time an opposing batter hits the ball over the outfield fence in fair territory, or hits it into play and subsequently scores on the play without an intervening error.    
 I/GS  Innings Per Games Started  Divide the total number of innings pitched by the pitcher as a starting pitcher by the number of games started.   I/GS 
 IBB  Intentional Walks  A pitcher is charged with an intentional base on balls (intentional walk) when he throws four pitches outside of the strike zone during one plate appearance, and makes no attempt to throw the last pitch to the batter into the strike zone but purposely throws the ball wide to the catcher outside the catcher's box.    
 IP  Innings Pitched  The total number of innings pitched by the pitcher. The pitcher is credited for one-third inning for each out he records.    
 IRA  Inherited Runs Allowed  A relief pitcher is charged with an inherited run allowed when he enters the game with a runner or runners on base and one or more of those runners scores while that relief pitcher is in the game.    
 K/9  Strikeouts per Nine Innings  Divide the total number of strikeouts recorded by the pitcher by the total number of innings pitched, multiplied by nine.   (K/IP)*9 
 K/BB  Strikeout/Walk Ratio  Divide the total number of strikeouts recorded by the pitcher by the total number of walks allowed.   K/BB 
 L  Losses  The total number of losses charged to the pitcher. A pitcher is charged with the loss of the game if he is replaced when his team is behind in the score, or falls behind because of runs charged to him after he is replaced, and his team thereafter fails either to tie the score or gain the lead, regardless of how many innings he has pitched.    
 LIPS  Late Inning Pressure Situations  The batting average allowed by the pitcher to opposing hitters in Late Inning Pressure Situations, which is any at-bat in the seventh inning or later, with the batting team either leading by one run, tied, or has the potential tying run on base, at bat, or on deck.

 OBA  On-base Against  Divide the total number of hits allowed, bases on balls allowed and batters hit by pitch by the total of the opposing batters' at-bats, bases on balls allowed, batters hit by pitch and sacrifice flies allowed.   (H+BB+HBP)/(H+BB+HBP+SF) 
 P/GS  Pitches per Start  Divide the total number of pitches thrown by the pitcher by the total number of games started.   P/GS 
 P/IP  Pitches per Innings Pitched  Divide the total number of pitches thrown by the pitcher by the total number of innings pitched.   P/IP 
 PA  Plate Appearances  The total number of plate appearances by opposing batters against the pitcher, including all at-bats, bases on balls allowed, batters hit by pitch and sacrifice flies allowed.    
 PK  Pick-offs  The total number of runners picked off their original base while the pitcher is in the game.    
 R  Runs  The total number of runs allowed by the pitcher while he is in the game, as well as runners who reached base against the pitcher and subsequently scored in that inning after the pitcher had left the game.    
 RW  Relief Wins  A pitcher is credited with a relief win if he is not the starting pitcher in a game his team wins, and he is either the relief pitcher judged by the scorer to have been the most effective, or is the pitcher of record when his team assumes the lead and maintains it to the finish of the game.    
 SB  Stolen Bases  The total number of stolen bases recorded by opposing baserunners while the pitcher is in the game; a runner is credited with a stolen base when he advances to the next base, without the ball being hit into play, and unaided by a hit, a putout, an error, a force out, a fielder's choice, a passed ball, a wild pitch or a balk.    
 SHO  Shutouts  A pitcher is credited with a shutout when he pitches a complete game without allowing a run. When two or more pitchers combine to pitch a shutout, neither shall be awarded a shutout.    
 SLG  Slugging Percentage Allowed  Divide the total bases recorded by opposing batters by the total number of at-bats.   TB/AB 
 SO  Strikeouts  A pitcher is credited with a strikeout whenever he records three strikes against a batter during one plate appearance and the third strike is either a swinging or called strike.    
 SV  Saves  A pitcher is credited with a save when he finishes a game won by his club, is not the winning pitcher, and either (a) enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning, (b) enters the game with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck, or (c) pitches effectively for at least three innings.    
 SVO  Save Opportunities  A pitcher is credited with a save opportunity when he enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs or with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck.    
 TB  Total Bases  The total number of total bases recorded by all opposing batters against the pitcher. A batter is credited with one total base for each single, two total bases for each double, three total bases for each triple and four total bases for each home run.    
 TP  Triple Plays  The total number of triple plays hit into by opposing batters while the pitcher is in the game; a batter is charged with hitting into a triple play when he hits the ball into play on the ground, with none out, and three outs occur before the play becomes dead, without an intervening error or misplay between putouts.    
 UR  Unearned Runs  A run that scores shall be unearned if the runner reaches first base after his time at bat is prolonged by a muffed foul fly, because of interference or obstruction or because of any fielding error. No run shall be earned when scored by a runner whose time on base is prolonged by an error, if such runner would have been put out by errorless play, or if the runner's advance is aided by an error, a passed ball, or defensive interference or obstruction, if the scorer judges that the run would not have scored without the aid of such misplay.    
 W  Wins  The starting pitcher is credited with a win if he has pitched at least five complete innings and his team not only is in the lead when he is replaced but remains in the lead the remainder of the game. When the starting pitcher is not credited with the win, the win shall be awarded to the relief pitcher judged by the scorer to have been the most effective, or who is the pitcher of record when his team assumes the lead and maintains it to the finish of the game.    
 WHIP  Walks + Hits/Innings Pitched  Divide the total number of hits and bases on balls (walks) allowed by the pitcher by his total number of innings pitched.   (BB+H)/IP 
 WP  Wild Pitches  A pitcher is charged with a wild pitch when his pitch is so high, or so wide, or so low that the catcher does not stop and control the ball by ordinary effort, thereby permitting a runner or runners to advance.    
 WPCT  Winning Percentage  Divide the number of wins awarded to the pitcher by the total of wins and losses credited to the pitcher.   W/G 
 XBA  Extra Base Hits Allowed  The total number of doubles, triples and home runs hit against the pitcher by opposing batters.   2B+3B+HR 

 
Fielding
Category Name Description Formula
 A  Assists  A fielder is credited with an assist any time he throws or deflects a batted or thrown ball in such a way that a putout results, or would have resulted except for a subsequent error by any fielder.    
 CS  Caught Stealing  The total number of opposing base runners caught stealing by the catcher. A runner is charged with a caught stealing if he is put out attempting to advance to the next base without the ball having been hit into play.    
 DER  Defensive Efficiency Rating  Defensive Efficiency Rating is the ratio of team defensive outs recorded in defensive opportunities. To determine Defensive Efficiency Rating for a team, divide the total number of hits in play allowed (not including home runs) by the total number of defensive opportunities (all balls hit into play, not including home runs) and subtract from one: 1-((H-HR)/(PA-HR-BB-HBP-SO)).   (BF-H-K-BB-HBP-0.6*E)/(BF-HR-K 
 DP  Double Plays  A fielder is credited with participation in a double play if he earns a putout or an assist in a play when two or three outs are recorded on a play before the play becomes dead, unless an error or misplay intervenes between putouts.    
 E  Errors  A fielder is charged with an error whose wild throw permits a runner to reach a base safely, or advance to the next base, when in the scorer's judgment a good throw would have put out the runner or prevented him from advancing to the next base, or whose failure to stop, or try to stop, a batted or accurately thrown ball permits a runner to advance.    
 FPCT  Fielding Percentage  Divide the total number of putouts and assists recorded by the fielder, by the total number of putouts, assists and errors credited to the fielder.   (TC-E)/TC 
 G  Games Played  The total number of games in which the player appeared defensively, whether as the starter or as a substitute.    
 INN  Innings Played  The total number of innings played by a fielder. The fielder is credited for one-third inning for each out recorded while he is on the field defensively.    
 OFA  Outfield Assists  An outfielder is credited with an assist when he throws or deflects a batted or thrown ball in such a way that a putout results, or would have resulted except for a subsequent error by any fielder.    
 PB  Passed Balls  A catcher is charged with a passed ball when he fails to hold or to control a legally pitched ball that should have been held or controlled with ordinary effort, thereby permitting a runner or runners to advance.    
 PO  Putouts  A putout is credited to a fielder when catches a fly ball or a line drive, whether fair or foul, catches a thrown ball which puts out a batter or runner, or tags a runner when the runner is off the base to which he legally is entitled.    
 RF  Range Factor  Add the total number of putouts and assists recorded by the fielder, multiply that total by nine, and divide by the number of innings played.   9*(PO+A)/INN 
 SB  Stolen Bases (allowed)  The total number of opposing base runners to steal a base against a catcher. A runner is credited with a stolen base when he advances to the next base, without the ball being hit into play, and unaided by a hit, a putout, an error, a force out, a fielder's choice, a passed ball, a wild pitch or a balk.    
 TC  Total Chances  The total number of putouts and assists credited to the fielder and errors charged to the fielder.    
 TP  Triple Plays  A fielder is credited with participation in a triple play if he earns a putout or an assist in a play when three outs are recorded on a play before the play becomes dead, unless an error or misplay intervenes between putouts.
