Release Notes
| Initial Release for Season 1 Opening Games. |
New Standings Categories
The following new standings categories have been added:
- Winning Percentage
- Current Streak
- Record in last 10 games
- W/L printout for last 10 games
- Record in 1-run games
- Record in extra inning games
I want to thank Andy for compiling the streak/last 10 information. I sent Andy a note but I think he's heading out on vacation. Would anyone want to volunteer to go back and add up the 1-run and extra-inning records for each team (through Aug 7)? If so please post on the Notebook.
Manager Profiles Decisions Are Now "Instantaneous"
Previously you were only able to update your manager profile for the following week (starting with Monday games). I have modified the webpage and simulator such that your team now only has 1 profile and you can update it at any time. You no longer have to wait a week. Your changes will be used used for the next game.
A couple folks had suggested this. Again, you shouldn't feel the need to get in there each day to make updates. But you could make updates for any spot starter type scenarios where you want a specific pitcher in there or perhaps a fielder where you might only want them in a game or two, but not for the entire week. I'll leave all that to your imagination though. If you want to set your lineup based on the "probable opposing starting pitcher" go to that team's Snapshot page and check which pitchers are available for the next game or two. It will probably give you insight into their rotation and who you will likely face.
One note: Please avoid making updates daily between 1-2am Central (roughly 6-8am, I think, in the UK). These are the timeframes the games are run in and I don't want you to run into a situation where you could adversely mess up your lineup info while the game is starting to run. If this becomes a problem I could probably "black out" the manager profile page while games are underway but I'd like to avoid that.
Running Tendency Now In Use!
Up front, I want to thank Rob Peterson for designing the running tendency's use in our game. Up until now we've had "station to station" running where a runner only advanced the minimum number of bases based on the type of hit. With this change you can now try to advance your runner's further based on your tendency but also on the in-game scenarios such as score, where the ball is hit, and the speed of the runner.
The following four situations now use the running tendency:
- A single with '-2-'
- A single with '12-'
- A single with '123'
- A single with '-23'
I am using MOST of what Rob has outlined in his design on the Notebook. Please note that I am NOT using the first base to third base part of that formula yet. In those situations the runner on first simply goes to second base. I want to phase in some of these baserunning items as there tend to be a few bugs here and there as they are pretty detailed. So I've done a few now...and I'll continue to add more in the coming weeks.
Pitcher HR Against Stat
Added to the pitcher stats the ability to track when a hitter hits a home run against the pitcher. If anyone wants to volunteer to go back to the beginning of the games and calculate all the HRs allowed per pitcher I can update that. If you want to cover this please put in a note on the Notebook.
Pitcher On Based Against (OBA) Stat
This stat has been added to update the pitcher's overall on base against stat after every outing.
Formatted The Boxscore Scoreline
When the runs or hits were above 9 the formatting was being skewed on the scoreline. Also extra innings tended to throw the alignment off too. Both are now fixed.
Active Status Field
Behind the scenes I added a field to determine if a player is Active or inactive. For now, all players are active. Once a player hits their PA limit I will move them to inactive and need to also make sure they cannot enter the game.

Starter Requirements
For non-pitchers the following requirements were added:
- The player MUST have appeared in at least 20 games at the position you want to start him at.
- All players qualify for at least ONE position (even if they did not appear in 20 games) and its okay to start them at that position.
Inactive Players
Players who have used up their TPAs will be marked inactive by Al in the database using Kevin's weekly list. Once a player is inactive they will be replaced in the starting lineup and will not appear in the lists that managers use for their Manager Profile.

Reliever Info Added to Debug page
There have been a couple questions around how relievers are not coming in when expected. For starters I wanted to make sure we have in the debug somewhere the info on who is available/unavailable so that I can debug specific scenarios where, for instance, a closer should enter rather than a setup (or vice-versa).

Emergency Starters
Revised the program to use the highest PA Average (PA/G) when determining which pitcher should be the emergency starter if that situation arises.
Correct Saves Calculation
Revised the program to use the official MLB rules as follows:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
(a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
(b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces); or
(c) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game.
Base Path Bug
Re-initialized the basepaths on a 1-3 situation. This should help with Bug #63 reported by Rob.
Boxscore: Additional Stats
Per Mike Jaffe's suggestion we now have SB, CS, 2B, 3B, and E (in addition to HR) as post-game boxscore stats.
Home Field Advantage Factor
In doing some research I found that in the major leagues the home team maintains a .540 winning percentage. Using that as a starting point the following factors have been added to the simulator to provide a slight home field advantage during the games:
