Preview: Life Amongst the Bottom Feeders
Posted by Vick Hall on Friday, Jun. 7th, 2019 at 11:25 AM

So who can rise from the depths of the third division feeding off the scraps and crumbs form the top tables.....? The pictured zebra loach bottom feeder is similar to Manager Peterson for hiding under rocks then nipping out to bite the tails of more elegant fish. Does it have an eye on Kendal this session to give them a savaging.

1st BOSTON -  What are they doing even playing at this level. Manager Peterson should be ashamed of himself. This team should be fighting for a league title not languishing in the muck. They have no cash left, but with a T11 of 11.55 they don't need it and they don't really have a weak point in the squad either. They should be a major forse to be reckoned with next season after feasting on a glut of CP's this year.

2nd CHASETOWN -  Another team that has no right being in this division. With a T11 of 11.55 they could be going for a league title not bosiing around with the low-life. Again they have no cash left, which is a shame as they could probably do with another forward to get the better of Boston for the third division crown.

3rd CLEVEDON -  They should pick up the third promotion spot with a decent T11 of 11.09. Most years this would be strong enough to take the third divisions top spot, but this year there are two stronger contenders. They need another striker and defender, but have no cash left, so will have to be flexible in managing their squad and choosing their battles.

4th LUTON -  They need to sharpen up their defence a bit, so another year amongst the bottom feeders might not be such a bad thing. Last years app crop look a bit rotten with none of them making the grade. They have a bit of money to improve things with but not enough to challenge to get out of the mire this season.

5th KINGSTONIAN -  Have some cash available (3K) to strengthen a small squad that with a T11 of 10.55 is at least quite decent. A young developing keeper might hold them back a bit early on. Otherwise they need to buy another striker and defender.

6th BRIDGEWATER -  With a T11 of 9.45 they won't be pushovers and will rely on being defensively solid as they are shall we say toothless up front, compared to some of the sharks swimming in the pond.

7th FOREST GREEN -  They have three decent players in Almeida, Parslow and Charlton to start building a squad arpund. This years apprentices need better nurturing than that given to last years apps. Bjork needs to do a better job under the guidance of new youth director Pedro Souza. Redundant Haugland needs sacking.

8th SWINDON -  Small squad with a T11 of 7.36. They have a decent keeper and one decent defender both of whom will be called upon to garner some points. There is very little else in the cupboard and cash to buy maybe one more decent player.

9th EVESHAM -  Have a very large squad but it is full of driftwood. In Cheng Gao they have a potential gifted young keeper, but sadly the many apprentices are all crap. The only decent one being sweeper Marquis. If he can get through the year unscathed then they have the start of a squad to buld around. But a lot of rebuilding needs to be done.

10th Marine -  They have a very large squad. The driftwood here can be better described as deadwood though and some of it should be sold to add to a decent cash balance for purchases. They need a couple of good buys to pip Evesham in avoiding the wooden spoon. A decent keeper would be a good start.

Boston being at the bottom is definitely a sad state. But having been dealing with birth of my son 3.5 months early meant last season went completely in the crapper. Now that he's home from the hospital, we'll start to see a rejuvination at Boston.

As expected it looks as though Boston are headed back to the second division. It would need something catastrophic now to stop them! Chasetown are in second place but there is a 10 point gap to the leaders and that is too much to overcome surely. Luton and Clevedon are neck and neck with Chasetown though and one of these top 4 are going to miss out on promotion. which one though? Kingstonian as predicted are in 5th but Swindon are doing well to push above their weight in a good campaign that currently sees them in 6th place followed by Bridgwater and Forest Green. Evesham and Marine remain at the bottom of the bottom feeders pile fighting to avoid the wooden spoon. The outcome will be decided in next sessions game between the teams when Evesham host Marine. Lets hope it gets picked as a prediction match as it will be one interesting game to watch for sure!
