How New Players & Resources are Acquired
There are a number of methods you may use to acquire new players.
The following section discusses these.
Coaching Points
To obtain Coaching Points or CPs, a club must hire a coaching staff at the beginning of each season (note that 50 CP is the maximum for a coaching facilities purchase).
The number of CPs earned each season depends on the quality of the coaching staff.
CP raise skill level of players or OTF of the team, as explained on the Players Page.
Note that a club cannot hire more coaching staff once the season is under way except by buying them in the auctions or from other teams.
The costs are described in the following table:
| Cost | ||||
| CP | MSWL | SESL | SFLSL | NFM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | 500k | 750k | 500k | ? |
| 25 | 750k | 1000k | 750k | ? |
| 30 | 1000k | 1250k | 1000k | ? |
| 35 | 1250k | 1500k | 1250k | ? |
| 40 | 1500k | 2000k | 1500k | ? |
| 45 | 1750k | 2500k | 1750k | ? |
| 50 | 2000k | 3000k | 2000k | ? |
Training Points
To obtain Training Points or TPs, a club gains a training staff at the beginning of each season.
TP raise skill level of players, as explained on the Players Page.
Note that a club cannot hire more training staff once the season is under way except by buying them in the auctions or from other teams.
The amount of TP each team gets for free are described in the following table:
| Cost | ||||
| CP | MSWL | SESL | SFLSL | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TP | 34 | 40 | 30 | |
Pre-Season Player Acquisition
Each league has different rules for the method of new pre-season players.
MSWL Pre-season draft.
SESL Bosman Players.
SFLSL currently has no Pre-Season draft/auction system.
Auction
- A player acquired in an auction MUST appear in a number of matches before he can be traded.
- 15 for MSWL.
- 10 for SESL.
- 5 for SFLSL.
- Auctions are usually spaced either 1 or 2 weeks apart. The auctions will occur after the matches for a given set of games based on bank/player totals AFTER the games.
- MSWL has 8 auctions.
- SESL has 10 auctions.
- SFLSL has 5 auctions.
- Some auctions can occur after mid-season ageing.
SFLSL will be using a different auction system due to the difference nature of the league.
| Age | Per Auction | Pos | PercentChance | Age | SL Range | Resources | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 3 | GK | 9% | 0 | 5-10 | TP | 1-? |
| 1 | 1 | SW | 8% | 1 | 10-14 | CP | 1-? |
| 2 | 2 | SD | 3% | 2 | 13-17 | ||
| 3 | 1 | DF | 20% | 3 | 16-20 | ||
| 4 | 1 | DM | 5% | 4 | 19-23 | ||
| 5 | 1 | MF | 20% | 5 | 22-26 | ||
| WG | 9% | ||||||
| MA | 5% | ||||||
| FW | 20% | ||||||
| UT | 1% |
If there is a tie, the player goes to the team in the lowest division with the fewest league points. If MSWL is in AP Cup play, it will use AP Cup points.
Here are the auction instructions:
- Enter your lot number, bid, and player name based on the available players.
- You may bid ONLY ONCE on an available auction player. You should bid the HIGHEST amount you will pay for the player, however you will get him at a lower price if the other competing teams highest bids are lower than yours (and you have the money).
- For example if one team bids 150 and another 250 then the second team will get the player for 151 (not 250).
- Another example: You bid 1000 on a player and no one else bids on the player. You’ll get him for 1k.
- You must enter a UNIQUE player name for each player. If you bid on lot 1 and win and the player name is “Smith”, then if you win on lot 2 and also name him “Smith” then you will NOT get the second player
- The auction (when its run) will have the same deadline as the matches, but it will be run AFTER the matches, so you can count on some extra money (unless you blow it all on home bonus, extra CP or extra TP).
- You should bid in numeric amounts, do not enter ALL as the program won’t accept letters for bids and then your bid essentially gets wasted/ignored.
- ANY player you get in an auction MUST appear in 15 matches for your team BEFORE he can be traded. The Auction Stock Market that existed in previous season will no longer persist.
- There will be 8 auctions (2 in the AP Cup and 6 in the League sessions) where 9 players will be available each time. Each session will have three age 0 players, two age 1 players, two age 2 players, one age 3 player and one age 4 player. Auctions are NOT segregated by division. All 24 MSWL teams choose from the same list of players.
- Have fun…auctions are one of the best parts of this game!!
- If you have 25 players at the start of the auction OR the start of a bidding lot your bids are disqualified.
- The order of the auction is done based on LOT. Lot 1 is processed first, a winner assigned, their bank account reduced, etc. Then its on to lot 2.
FAQ
- Question 1:
If a person bids an amount in excess of what they have is the bid reduced to their remaining bank balance or is it a void bid and cancelled.
- Answer 1:
Either at the beginning or "in the middle" of the auction, a team's maximum bid cannot be greater than their current bank balance. So if a team bids 500k but they only have 450k in the bank then their max bid is reduced to 450k.
- Question 2:
If one has the winning bid the amount paid will be reduced to 1K more than the second placed bid.What if the second placed bidder does not have enough money for their bid,is it reduced to their cash balance or ignored and the 3rd placed bid used.
- Answer 2:
At the start of determining the winner of each lot each team's max bid is reduced to their bank total IF their max bid is higher than their bank account. So in this example yes the bids would be lowered (if needed) to the bank total.
- Question 3:
What if one bids an amount that is more than the cash one has BUT the manager does have more cash than the actual amount needed to buy the player ie I bid 300,I have 200 cash in the bank and the second placed bid is 100.Would I get the player for 101K or would my bid be disqualified as I did not have enough money to make it in the first place.
- Answer 3:
At the start of each lot all max bids would be reduced to no more than the bank account so your max bid in this scenario would be 200 and you would get the player for 101k.
Apprentices
- An age zero player is known as an "apprentice".
- An apprentice becomes "seasoned" at the end of the match that he completes his 360th minute of play.
- Seasoning may occur at anytime.
- When an apprentice becomes seasoned, his Skill Level rises by 2.
- If a player ages to age 1 without becoming seasoned, he will not ever get the seasoning bonus.
<p> AGE 0 PLAYERS MAY NOT PLAY OUT OF POSITION.
Apprentices may also be picked up via the draft (MSWL only) or auction. In addition, they can be freely purchased according to the following table.
| MSWL | SESL | Sanc | ||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Div 1 | Div 2 | Div 1 | Div 2 | Div 3 | Div 1 | Div 2 | ||||||||

- These purchased players start at Age 0.
- UTs may not be created as apprentices though they could appear in a draft (MSWL only) or auction (all leagues).
- In MSWL, NOTE: A 0/2 Apprentice (2nd division only) results in a 30-game no-trade ban.
Re-Qualification
Because of the multi-position player rules you may need to re-qualify a player because of the cap of 5 on multi-position players. You may do this in the following manner.
- If a player was a SD, you may re-qualify the player at SW or DF.
- If the player was a DM, you may re-qualify the player at DF or MF.
- If the player was a MA, you may re-qualify the player at MF or FW.
- If the player was a UT, you may re-qualify the player at DF, MF, or FW (but not GK, SW, or WG)
Re-qualification may only be done for these multi-position players.
Transfers and Trading
Players may buy sell, or trade anything. Trading can be a very rewarding experience, especially when both teams gain from the trade, as is perfectly possible and as is always true with the best of deals.
Trade Restrictions
A player who has been traded must appear in a number of matches before he can be traded to another team.
No player loans are permitted.

Trade Window
Each league operates a Trade Window, during which trades may be carried out.
It is only during these periods that trades can be carried out.
After the last regular season game has been played, after which trading resumes once the Cup final has been played.
This is effectively an embargo on trading while the MSWL Cup is on.
You may, of course, strike a deal while the Cup runs, but the actual exchange of "goods" may not occur until after the Cup ends.
After the first League Season game after the SESL Cup group stages are completed.
Season 20, Wed 16-Apr-08 TRADE WINDOW CLOSES
In Season 2, the trade window closes after match 19.
Trading Deadline
Each session has a trading deadline which is 24 hours prior to the deadline for the orders – this is now enforced by the software.
Trading has been automated and can now be fully done online.
