Coaches and Trainers(Draft)

Please consider how players can be improved (during the game and during "training"). How does aging work (we'll use real ages)?

Are there specific coaches for the main skills? Does each coach also have the 5 skills? What is the value of these coaches? How to they train players? Can they focus on some? Or do they train all?

When considering Coach/Trainer (CT for short) we obviously need to make the CT competent in the Primary skills and possibly Secondary skills. As I read it at present they are : shot stopping(SS) Tackling (Tac) Passing (Pas) & Shooting (Sh).

If each team has the ability to hire a coach then they should be different and have different values. (also costs).

Based on a Skill value of say 10.

Coach 1 SS 5, Tac 4, Pas 4,Sh 7. cost kkk per wk

Coach 2 SS 3, Tac 6, Pas 6,Sh 4. " " "

Coach 3 SS 8, Tac 3, Pas 7,SH 4 " " "

Etc etc.

So each team could hire a coach for a week/month / season - at a cost.

The other thing we need to consider if EL is to dissappear, is Fitness/stamina etc and we may need to include these in the CT skills.

Ok my 10 cents to get the ball rolling.

Robin, this is Big Al. I like that. So are you thinking that we might have a "coaching transfer list" where managers can bid on coaches? I'm thinking we should... I was thinking more of like making it a contract similar to a player?

Now, what about how a coach impacts players? As a "manager of the team" can I say: "Coach A...I want you to focus on Shot stopping only for these two players this week"? Or can I say...just help everyone?

This is Batmans little helper-

Coach - Yes hire a coach for the season .

BUT , say I hire CT 3. for the season ,he is basically going to help my GK and MF.

Then would it be possible for me to exchange my CT ( at some stage in the season) with U, as you had hired CT 1. who helps FW's?

As for instructions to CT , then I would say "Coach All" , he should have a small impact on all players as the CT has a skill level in all areas , but in the case of CT3. he would have a greater impact on my GK & MF .

I am also thinking about our current set up with MSWL and what you plan for the future. At present we have age 0- 7 .

Unless you get a 0/8 or 9 the age 0 player is just a fill in in season 1 , takes 10 games to train fully so is not contributing THAT much to the team . Season 2 is good and season 3 . Now he is age 3 and on the decline but still good , by season 5 he is usually SPENT and on his way out. So basically you get the BEST out of a player for 3 seasons (age 1-3).

With the new set up I would like to see a player lasting much longer , but possibly gaining less each season.

If you start with a 19yr old he could be with you till 32. (in real life) . Footballers tend to peak 24-28. So what we need is a slow gain from 19 and a slow decline from say 27 ?
