Purpose

Scratch space for some basic ideas on how the NMR program should behave (or ideally be configured).

Instructions on Editting - please

If you edit the page - create a subsection and I'll try to incorporate your ideas. If I cant incorporate them I'll move them to the discussion page for more us to discuss?

Initial ideas

As a basic starting point I think we need a program that will pick the 11 players for a team which have enough EL to end the game and are valid in terms of the positional requirements defined. A number of things could be set by the commish for that league....

Commish settings

Some ideas for the basic configuration of the NMR program.

  1. Best T11, Fittest out of T17, Worst T11, Fittest players.
  2. Default Tactic.
    1. ie (presuming they remain as such - N/L/C/etc... /Highest/Lowest/Random/Prevailing)
      1. By highest/lowest I mean one which gives the highest/lowest values for sum of area totals)
      2. Random being an option because with no coach the team is simply playing how they like.
      3. prevailing is to choose the most common tactic the team has used - ie the one they've been "training" at.
  3. Minimum players at positions
    1. So we could say minimum 2/3/4 Defenders, 2/3/4 Midfielders, 2/3 FWs, etc
    2. Of course we'd have to program it to avoid the Commish setting too many minimums.
    3. Defaults would be the system minimums at each position.
  4. Effort levels
    1. Do they play at a/d/n/p or randomise it (no coach so everyone playing as they like).
  5. Coaching
    1. If this is still an option as per the previous version - should the coaches do anything?
    2. Which players do they choose?
      1. Do we allow managers to indicate their default players for coaching/training?

The default would be best T11 with enough EL available for the match, playing Normal at passive level, no coaching?

Further Notes

Please add your ideas in here signed (ie using three/four tildas "~" at the end) and in a subsection of this - ie mark it with three equals signs - see below....

Effort levels

It's tempting to set the effort to p but there is another side to the coin. You also need to protect the interests of the other teams in the division, so just letting the NMR team roll over would not be fair on the other teams playing real opposition. One of the problems has been the embarrassment of losing to an NMR team, but if we can do away with that by setting up a decent NMR routine then we can concentrate on dealing with the real issue, which is the NMR. Having said that, I can't see a need to let players play a or d, for the same reason. It would not be fair on the opposition to find that the team is suddenly playing Dirty when they never have in the past. For me, an NMR team should be playing p or n.

Pseudo code

Might be difficult to use pseudo code until we know what data is available but I'll put some thing together at some point later in the week when I've had a chance to read further and to see if any further ideas are forthcoming.
