This is a specific page for the ODFL league of OLMEC.

Each manager coaches a soccer club. A season is divided into "sessions".

Each manager submits lineup order instructions online for each sessions, and the commissioner ('Commish') then resolves the matches using the OLMEC software which determines the scores and the effects of the sessions on each manager's club.

ODFL stands for Olmec Developmental Football League. Its primary function is to let mew managers learn the ropes before moving on to one of the other leagues. It can also be used to see if a manager can cope with playing in more than one league.

Most of the features of the other Leagues will be used in ODFL; a stand-alone cup competition similar to MSWL, another cup competition that is played at the same time as the League as used in SESL and SFLSL.

The captain's bonus will be used.

Website

Almost all functions of the game have been automated on the ODFL website.

Orders are submitted online, trades are completed online, and interaction with other managers is possible on the blog, journal and match comments.

It is possible to communicate with other managers by email or IM. This is commonly done for trade discussions, as well as banter.

The Structure of a Season

ODFL has Cup competitions and the League.
The commish will publish the fixture schedule at the beginning of the season.

Session

Each manager submits lineup order instructions online for each session, and the commissioner then resolves the matches using the OLMEC software which determines the scores and the effects of the session on each manager's club.

A session consists of

  • one match for Cup sessions
  • two matches for League sessions.

Normally there are two sessions in a week, alternating between Wednesdays at 18.00 GMT and Saturdays at 18:00 GMT and 19:00 GMT if League games

League

The regular season will involve the 8 teams in each division playing the other teams in their division twice (once at home and once away) for a total of 14 league matches. Season 3 edit - 12 teams playing 22 games

  • The schedule will be published at the beginning of the season.
  • Two league games will be played on Saturdays, alternating with ODFL Cup games on [most]Wednesdays.

The Champions are the team that finishes with the most points at the end of the 14 [22] game league campaign.

Standings

Clubs are ranked in the League Divisions and the The Cup Group Stages primarily by the number of points (Pts) they earn. Clubs earn 3 Pts per win and 1 Pt per draw. Clubs with equal Pts shall have that tie broken using the following criteria (in order):

  1. Goal Differential
  2. Total Goals Scored
  3. Head To Head Record
  4. Most Goals Scored in Head To Head Play
  5. Games Won
  6. Goals scored @ home
  7. Home matches Won
  8. Leading Goal scorer
  9. Flip of a coin
