Commissioner Closing Statement

Salutations/congratulations & thanks to caretaker Mananager Brian O'Farrell for stepping in to the breach when The British Over Achievers arrived at the OLMEC CUP without their Manager.

Brian performed a masterful job guiding them to he Final & then winning it !
He deserves the Kudos & the accolades ! Well done Brian ...
Now the matter of whether The team should have been there in the first place?

As Olmec Cup Commissioner I take full responsibility for this situation
I had written the rules with a proviso that each League Commissioner (SESL,SFLSL & MSWL)
provide a list of 4 competing teams plus a reserve team.
Unfortunately MSWL had a situation where they had finished their regular season & the new one does not start until October/November.
They also had several interim managers due to retires.
A couple of their Managers were unable to compete so their reserve was used & Al himself (Memphis Pharaohs) filled the other space.
Ian Lindsay (BOA) had indicated that he would be competing.
He then went AWOL without any contact despite numerous e-mails by myself & Al.
For the sake of the competition I made the decision to care-take manage them myself for the first match, this was displayed on the website.
I had hoped that Ian was just experiencing PC difficulties & would log in to take over his team.
Unfortunately he did not & I then took the decision to ask Brian (deputy Commissioner) to care-take the team until Ian returned, again this was recorded on the website.
Unfortunately Ian never did return & to this date I have received no communication or explanation from him!
On reflection I still believe I made the right decision.

I believe the OLMEC CUP has been a success despite the absent manager problem.

In the next few weeks I will be compiling a survey to discuss the future of the OLMEC CUP.
Any points or rule changes that you would like to raise please send them to me before the end of June & I will include them in the survey!

Thanks for your support for my attempt to resurrect the OLMEC CUP

& Lastly a Big thanks to Stewart Gordon for his assistance in the draws

To Brian for his support & help

& to Big Al sellers for making it all possible

Cheers Guys!
