Players Value, Contracts, Wages, and Transfers (Draft)
From Olmec Jaguar
Notes to authoring team:
Here are some key points I'm hoping to see details on:
- Contracts. How do they work? How does a 1-year differ from a 4-year? How do negotiations work? For example, would a team submit an offer to a player and then the "player" responds? What are the factors to get a player to sign? What happens if the player thinks the offers are low? There's a lot of AI to be built into this but I think it would be interesting to do. Obviously there's some randomness to add too, but I would think a lot would revolve around the player's skills, their "happiness", and their "fair value".
- Player Value. I'd like to get some sort of math involved to come up with a player value that really reflects their value to the team. Stars should be pretty costly for instance.
- Wages. These would be part of the contract negotiation and determined at the time of the contract. In general they should reflect some % of the player value. I see these (along with "stadium maintenance" for instance) being paid once a week (say, after the Saturday matches) so wages should be "weekly".
- Transfers. This is a pretty big area. I think people like the auctions in Olmec. Can we translate that to a once per week "bidding" on players available on the transfer list? There's been good discussion on how transfers really work on the Forum and perhaps that could be moved here.

Contracts ; To me this seems a difficult one , how does a computer judge if a player is happy :)
I would suggest possibly start up teams all players are given a 3/4 yr contract. Obviously this is renewable on expirey, and probably is fairly automatic UNLESS.:- 1. The team has been relegated or is performing poorly . 2. The player is not getting a regular game.
The only problem with 1. is that if a team has been relegated the last thing the manager wants is his best players leaving.
2. If the player is not getting a regular game that will make him unhappy and want AWAY.
VALUE: ( wages probably similar) Based on age and SL. Mind you the CENTRAL (backbone of a team)
GK/ central DF / Central MF / Strikers tend to be worth more and get paid more, Than fullbacks/WG's even if they have the same ability.
WAGES obviously should be based on SL . What we don't want is a team full of 30SL players , otherwise there is no point in the rest of us playing. If a manager wants a team full of BIG players he has to pay for it , in which case he will need an Income to provide this. To create the perfect game and good manager he will need to be good at all aspects of Club Management starting with the basics , you need money coming in to maintain your squad etc . ( as an aside re -money coming in manager need to create a big enough stadium for spectators -set the right price for the tickets - but then he needs a successful team to fill the stadium. No good having a 50,000 seater if you are in the relegation zone - it will be half full.)
TRANSFERS/AUCTION . I think you should have a list of draft players age 19-32 permanantly available + players that managers wish to put on the list. Managers should have an option ONCE a week to place 1 BID on the players listed.

WAGES
If we had 5 basic skills with a max in each skill of 20 then max a player could achieve is 100sl
Squad of 20 with an average say of 65sl = 1300 total SL
Wages are 10k per SL = 13,000k per wk.
If Stadium was 15,000 seater charging 10k each , full house = 15,000k
Okay if you get a full house , BUT then next game, you are playing away so you get NOTHING.
So over a 2 week period your income is 15,000 expenses 26,000. !!
So what to do ?
Make it easier for the manager ,reduce the figs , or make the manager work?
Build a bigger stadium , charge more per head, reduce squad etc..
Obviously the above figs are not workable as we do not want teams going bust.
Are we going to play 2 games per wk ?/ if so then this would solve the problem if the wages were based on a weekly basis.
