This is a specific page for the SFLSL league of OLMEC.

Each manager coaches a soccer club. A season is divided into "sessions".

Each manager submits lineup order instructions online for each sessions, and the commissioner ('Commish') then resolves the matches using the OLMEC software which determines the scores and the effects of the sessions on each manager's club. Season 2 is the current season.

Unique SFLSL Differences

The main change is maximum SL, which is set randomly for each player.
The Max SL function works like this:

  • Each player is assigned a Max SL which is their "potential". They cannot be CP/TP'd above that SL.
  • This is a hidden field and has a range of 21 to 35.
  • Teams can pay for scouting reports to get an idea of what the player's Max SL is.
  • Scouting reports vary in cost (commish configurable), but here's an example:
  • An Excellent Scouting Report will result in a MaxSL returned that is equal to or +/- 1 of the MaxSL of the player scouted.
    • Currently set at 20k
  • A Very Good Report will result in a MaxSL returned that is equal to or +/- 2 of the MaxSL of the player scouted.
    • Currently set at 10k
  • A Good Report will result in a MaxSL returned that is equal to or +/- 3 of the MaxSL of the player scouted.
    • Currently set at 5k

To scout a player use the Transactions tab on the [SFLSL] website and then the Scout button.

  • If a player is CP/TP'd in a game and they are at their Max SL then their PU column is set to 10 and the trainer's report indicates that they have reached 10 PU and cannot be CP/TP'd.

Officers

Duties: Officer Email Address
Commissioner: Mike Morton sflsl at yahoo dot com
Press Officer Justin Neill redlake dot consultancy at ifacom dot net

Officer Duties

  • The 'Commish' is responsible for running the league matches and the league as a whole.
  • Justin Neill will award Participation Bonus based on Press Releases posted on the Blog and Journal, 40k is the maximum award for the Participation Bonus, normally awarded after the league session.

Where a newbie manager has been taken advantage off, then the Commissioner can demand a trade is reversed.

Website

Almost all functions of the game have been automated on the SFLSL website.

Orders are submitted online, trades are completed online, and interaction with other managers is possible on the blog, journal and match comments.

It is possible to communicate with other managers by email or IM. This is commonly done for trade discussions, as well as banter.

The Structure of a Season

SFLSL has Cup competitions and the League.
The commish will publish the fixture schedule at the beginning of the season.

Session

Each manager submits lineup order instructions online for each session, and the commissioner then resolves the matches using the OLMEC software which determines the scores and the effects of the session on each manager's club.

A session consists of

  • one match for Cup sessions
  • two matches for League sessions.

Normally there are two sessions in a week, alternating between Cup sessions 23.00 GMT on Monday and League sessions on a 23.00 GMT on Thursday.

League

The regular season will involve the 12 teams in each division playing the other teams in their division twice (once at home and once away) for a total of 22 league matches.

  • The schedule will be published at the beginning of the season.

The Champions are the team that finishes with the most points at the end of the 24 game league campaign in Div 1.
With Division 2 winners being the team top of that division.

  • At the end of each regular season
    • 1st to 8th into McBride Cup of the following season.

  1. Goal Differential
  2. Total Goals Scored

  4. Most Goals Scored in Head To Head Play

  9. Flip of a coin

The Cups

The two Cups in SFLSL are the McBride Cup and the SFLSL Cup

  • Each team is not guaranteed any games in the McBride Cup but 5 to 9 games in Season 1.
  • Each team is guaranteed at least five games in the SFLSL Cup and a maximum of 9 games.
  • Note: No EL boost for knocked out teams not playing
  • All matches are played on Neutral Grounds.

SFLSL Cup

  • Teams will be drawn into 4 groups of 6 teams.
  • Each team will play 5 games on a neutral ground.
  • The top 4 from each group will advance to the knockout stage.

The first group game will be played on the Friday after League matches 1 and 2, and every two weeks thereafter.
The knockout stages will start on the Friday after the last League game of the season and then run on Wednesday and Friday.

Group Stages

  • Consists of 4 groups (A – D) of 6 teams randomly drawn.
  • Each team plays one game against the other teams in their group.
    • Games in these groups are now played at Neutral venue.
  • The first group game will be played on the Monday after League matches 1 and 2 every two weeks

The top FOUR teams in each group qualify for the knockout stages played after the League season is completed.

SFLSL Cup Knockout Stages

  • Seeded format to favour teams that finished well in the Group Stage.
    • The Draw also keeps teams from the same group mostly apart, with only 1 other on your side of the draw.

Season 1 uses a different format.

Round Match Ups
2nd Round A1 v C4 B3 v D2 C2 v A3 D4 v B1 C1 v A4 D3 v B2 A2 v C3 B4 v D1
Quarter-Finals A1 v D2 C2 v B1 C1 v B2 A2 v D1

Round Match Ups

Draft

A draft has been instituted into the League, and will start during the offseason before Season 2.
Each team will gain 1 player through the Draft.
Draft Picks can be traded or sold.

The draft is done in two stages, first 12 managers select their choices, with the 12th manager having to enter 12 conditional picks.
Then the same process for the second set of 12 managers selecting from the remaining 18 players.
A manager enters a priority of draft players he would like to receive.

Draft Player Distribution

There will be 30 players in the draft which will comprise of the following.

67% Age 0 SL 4+
33% Age 1 SL 8+

Draft Order

The order that the managers have to pick in is based on a combination of points earned from league and cup placing.
The Season 2 Draft order and format will be listed on the Season 2 page.

Currently the first place team receives 12 points in the division, down to the last place team in the division who gets 1 point.
I think we should keep this, even though last place in the first division might be considered a better team.

Then teams received points for the Cups.
12 pts to the Champ
11 pts to 2nd
10 to Semis
8 to Qtrs
4 to Sweet 16

Add them all up, lowest amount of points gets first pick, on downward.
If there was a tie in points, league points are the tiebreaker.

Awards

At the end of the regular season, the player who has scored the most goals in the regular season in the first division is awarded the "Golden Boot" and the “Silver Boot” is awarded to the leading goal scorer of the second. There are also awards in each division for the "Best Offensive Team" (most regular season goals scored), the "Best Defensive Team" (fewest regular season goals allowed) and “Golden Gloves” - Rating: ((100-(([GoalsAllowed]/[ShotsFaced]) * 100)) * .75) + ([ShotsFaced]*.25).

The “Boot” winners get 50k, while the other three receive 40k each.

Morale Bonus

Some teams have a morale bonus applied to their match revenues but not area ratings.
This bonus applies to gate values and is split between both teams playing.

  • No team can have a morale bonus of more than 0.30

Morale Bonus League

1st Division Champion 0.25
1st Division 2nd Place 0.15
1st Division 3rd Place 0.10
1st Division 4th Place 0.07
2nd Division Champion 0.15
2nd Division Promoted 0.05

Morale Bonus Cups

Champion 0.15
Runner Up 0.10
Semi Finalist 0.07
Quarter Finalist 0.04
