Condition 1 Condition 2
Opting to try a drop goal To even consider this option, the player with the ball needs to be within a max of 50m from the centre of the posts (measured in a straight line from where they’re standing. There must be less than 30 seconds on the clock AND a three point score from the kicking team would materially affect the overall score (i.e turn a losing position into a winning / tied one, or a tied position into a winning one)
Opting to try and kick a penalty To even consider this option, the player with the ball needs to be within a max of 50m from the centre of the posts (measured in a straight line from where they’re standing. There must be less than 30 seconds on the clock AND a three point score from the kicking team would materially affect the overall score (i.e turn a losing position into a winning / tied one, or a tied position into a winning one)
Opting for a long kick The kicker is within 10m of their own try line
How is the game impacted by a successful pass (note - this suggestion as an alternative to the current proposal in Plays v3) If a player catches a pass from a teammate, the quality of this pass should influence the choices he can then make Catching an Excellent Pass should increase that player’s chances of successfully executing whatever action he takes (say a 5% bonus) Catching an Excellent Pass from a player who had received an Excellent Pass should further increase that player’s chances of successfully executing whatever action he takes (by another 5%, so after 2 such passes 10% bonus, 3 would be 15% bonus, etc) Catching a Poor Pass should decrease that player’s chances of successfully executing whatever action he takes (say by -5%) Catching a Poor Pass from a player who had received a Poor Pass should further decrease that player’s chances of successfully executing whatever action he takes (by another 5%, so after 2 such passes -10%, 3 would be -15%, etc) If there have been say, three, Excellent passes (+15% bonus) but the next one is Poor then a new chain is started beginning at -5%).  Conversely if three Poor passes were followed by an Excellent pass a new chain is started at +5%.  If a Good pass is received at any point, the chain reverts to zero bonus.
