🅾 PREDICTION: CRO 3 – 1 CIV   (CRO to win)
🏦 Neutral venue
⚔️ KEY BATTLE: Midfield is the decisive battleground — Croatia (70) utterly overwhelm Ivory Coast (23) in the engine room, giving the Balkan side a commanding edge in the most influential area of the pitch.
ONES TO WATCH: Luka Modrić (MF, TL:16) — CRO | Franck Kessié (MF, TL:13) — CIV
🎯 VERDICT: Croatia should advance comfortably with a 3-1 victory. Their midfield dominance, led by the masterful Luka Modrić and Mateo KovaÄŤić, generates an estimated 25 attacks to Ivory Coast's 7, while Ivory Coast's relatively weak goalkeeper (11) offers little resistance to sustained Croatian pressure. Luka Modrić will be the decisive figure, orchestrating play with his trademark vision and precision to unlock a defensively solid but offensively limited Ivorian side.

SĂłCRATES'S TAKE
3 - 1
I walked through the Museo Nacional de Arte this morning and stood before Velasco's *El Valle de México* — that vast, unhurried landscape where everything breathes with quiet inevitability — and I thought, yes, this is how Modrić plays football. Croatia's midfield will conduct this game like a slow masterpiece, with Kovačić doing the restless, physical work so that Modrić can float above the chaos, seeing corridors that Ivory Coast's midfield simply cannot close. Kessié will chase shadows in that central battle, and Ivory Coast's defensive shape — solid enough in their own half but alarmingly exposed on the flanks — will be stretched mercilessly by Croatia's patient, suffocating build-up. The Azteca deserves beautiful things, and Croatia, for all their pragmatism, will provide them today.
JURGEN
JURGEN'S TAKE
3 - 1
Croatia's midfield is simply operating on a different frequency here — Modrić conducting the tempo, Kovačić covering every blade of grass, and Ivory Coast's defensive block, anchored by Diomande, simply cannot handle 25 attacking sequences without cracking at some point. I tried baking *conchas* before the match at the Azteca — gorgeous pillowy bread, but I burnt the sugar topping and my apprentice master would have wept. What worries me about the Elephants is that their MF area looks dangerously thin for a knockout fixture; Kessié is a warrior, but he's fighting a three-front war trying to both disrupt Croatian build-up AND protect a backline that wasn't built for this volume of pressure. Livaković in goal will be tested once — probably from a set piece where Ivory Coast's physicality gives them a foothold — but Croatia are simply too structured, too experienced in this format, and their organization at every line is a masterclass in European footballing pragmatism.
