Season 12 // Definitive Pre-Season Conference Finishes
Posted by Allan Sellers on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 12:28 AM

Here are the predicted results for each conference finish:

PAC - 8

Andy's DENALI are your defending champs (10-4) last season with San Jose and Mat-Su both finishing at 8-6.  This season I like the Shrimps to take this title but I do think Denali, Mat-Su, and Tucson will keep it close.

SEC

Roy's Nashville DOMINATED this conference last season finishing 12-2 while Merritt Island, T-Town, and N'Orleans all came in at 8-6.  After 9 (NINE) straight SEC conference championships Mr. Mike Halpin's Bananas seemed to take their foot off the pedal last season finishing at a pedestrian 5-9 in conference play.  Was that just a blip or will their slide continue?

It feels like it is Roy's conference to lose but Kevin and C-Ball should make a good run here.  And now that I haven't mentioned some other people they will feel victimized and slighted so they will probably win the conference instead of Roy.

BIG 8

In season 11 Portland won the conference as 12-2 with Steve's Tomatoes at 11-3 and the Tactical Genius and Dallas at 9-5.  I like Pekin this season.  Roger's Pushin' Peas had no help from Olmec last season as nearly every competitive match went for the other team.  Look for Pekin to turn that around with Steve being right there in the mix along with CB's Bulldogs.  Meanwhile the commish is the definitive favo(u)rite to finish in dead last.  No one has picked him above 8th.  It will be a miracle if the elder Mr. Sellers wins ANY conference matches.

BIG EAST

JT's Cinci has now won this conference for 5 straight seasons but had to work to outlast Olmec Darling John Holden's Sheboygan last season (Cinci at 12-2 and the Bats at 10-4).  Brian's Squirrels and Dr. White's Eagles were 8-6.

This season its once again time to "meet the new boss" but will it be the "same as the old boss"?

James and the Screaming Eagles have a solid chance to win this conference and I've picked them at #1.  Do NOT let me down Dr. White.

Right behind them will be JT's Cinci once again who may still have enough in the tank to win this conference as well (am I starting to hedge my bets here?).

Aires has already claimed this as a rebuilding season after an ugly 5th place season.  But keep in mind that Mr. Martins Jr.'s team has finished 7th once, 6th once, 5th once, and 2nd SEVEN times along with one conference title.  So you'll have to forgive me for believing Aires here.  Look for the Bullfrogs to be in the mix.

But don't forget...Olmec LOVED John Holden last season.  Was it a one and done?  Or is it a trend?  Time will tell.

SUMMARY

All of these predictions will be wrong.  You will be mad at me if I didn't mention your team or I picked your team to finish low.

You will be posting on this thread when I picked you to finish last and you won the conference.  You are welcome for the motivation!

Just keep in mind though that Quincy will finish DEAD LAST in our conference, so you just need to roll out the freshman/sophomore players and its an easy win against Quincy.  Let's focus on that please.  Enjoy!

Just do what I do Al and turn it upside down and pretend I'm at the top. It helps for a moment 🤣

One and done.

John Holden on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 12:59 AM

It's sad that I saw a 3rd place finish and my first thought was, "okay, I can live with that"... and then I looked at it again, and saw it was a 4th place finish, and that's just way too similiar to every season. BOOO.

Rob Peterson on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 1:30 AM

If it's not one and done do we just assume you have an AI that has figured out the "random number generator" inside OLMEC?

Bryce Kalmbach on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 1:40 AM

Seventh place is too high for us.

As good as my AI is, it requires a setter better than a D+

John Holden on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 2:49 AM

Thanks for the nod Al but I don't think Olmec was that unkind to me last year, I'm just not very good at this game.  I expect Big 8 to revert to type this season - Tomatoes, Mules and Scarecrows at the top, with Steve taking the top prize.

Roger Mendonça on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 8:01 AM

Two points:

1. Quincy won't finish bottom. I'm not saying they'll win it...

2. We won't win it either without Olmec love. Tanner Boyle is poor but needs to play some two game sessions for XP. I thought about abandoning him and waste the 700 RP and recruit a 5* but that means I'll have five Freshmen next season and even worse 5 Sophomores the season after.

Steve Turner on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 8:35 AM

Wethinks the Twisters are one season away from really making a run (due to some recrutiing follies a few seasons back). We will still look to cast a few surprises here and there.

Mike Cabral on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 1:11 PM

i reckon more likely PAC8 will be a close run fight between Tucson and Denali this year. Mat su have the hoodoo on us so should be up there too. Our squad looks weak this year and the new recruits have not lived up to expectations

Vick Hall on Sunday, Apr. 28th, 2024 at 1:48 PM

The Prancing Ponies WILL finish last

The mighty Bulldogs WILL win the Conference

The Darlo fan WILL fold gifting the title to the Bananas

Steve and his fruits WILL win everything else

Whoops, reloaded the page on my phone the next day, haha.

Thanks for the kiss of death Al !!
