Uphill battle (Session 1)
Posted by Steve Turner on Saturday, Nov. 5th, 2022 at 3:30 PM

Season 7 is going to be a tough one for the Crazy Tomatoes.

Our OH position is dire with C+ and C- our best two. It took about 10 checks on other teams to find a worse pairing.

Recruiting was poor:

Hastings, Max src 5* OH rolled three 10s and one 11 from 10-11 range

Cordero 5* MB rolled  rolled three 10s and even his DEF was a 5 from the 5-8 range

Peterson Max +2 ATK 3* OH rolled average with one 7, two 8s and a 9 from the 7-9 range

Fisher 3* RS got two 7s and two 8s from the same 7-9 range.

I did look at some other teams and didn't  see many who will be very happy, the last one I looked at was Dallas and they did pretty well with their 3* and 4* recruits.

My 1 star walk-on got some very good rolls.

You can get 11s from 5* recruits?!...

For the first time I've decided to plan out CP usage and number of matches I want each player to play for XP. There is some flexibility with some players where to play them once or twice though with some I need 75 sets which means getting some into a 4th set.

I've assumed all matches end up in a 3-0 loss for CP noting that I need 37 sets over the season. Any extra sets means the possibility of CPing a lower string player or saving for next season. Extra sets for XP will allow more flexibility and maybe not needing to play the youngsters so much - but also allow for getting knocked out of trophies meaning two matches per session - my plan needs mainly three matches in all but middle blocker.

Due to bad management and an appalling outside hitter set up I've decided this is a rebuild season where I don't neglect the kids.

More like a shallow incline Steve?  With the tied third best T7 it is not a Matterhorn style challenge!
