Terminology Question
Posted by Matthew Fowler on Wednesday, Oct. 12th, 2022 at 11:46 PM

So I've been seeing a couple of phrases/terminology written in a few places and even though I've gone through the rules I can't seem to find/figure out what they actually mean.

Quadrant

T7

And there was another one similar to these but I've forgotten.

Thanks

I can help with one but would only be guessing at the other...

T7 = that sides best seven starting players. In other words, if I played my best line up against yours, what would it look like? (Obviously yours would be better...sigh). T11 is a variation of the same thing, just looks at squad depth rather than just the best starting seven players

I'm guessing the quadrant relates to the area of the (what would you call it? court? I'm going with that) court you're referring to...although quad means four and there are 6 areas each side of the net for players so I am struggling a bit....perhaps this is an American version of English where they randomly make stuff up/change spellings/change definitions where they see fit....I'm thinking 'fanny' (bit rude in the UK), 'color' etc

Hope that helps?! :)

Thanks Craig,

That does help.

I'm from Australia so strange terminology comes with the territory apparently

Cheers

I took quadrant to refer to the power rankings - top 8 teams are Quadrant 1, 9-16 Q2, 17-24 Q3 and 25-32 Q4. I'm sure Steve, Al or John can clarify...

Yep Quadrant refers to the Power rankings.

Check out this thread on the forum (under Net Rankings).  https://www.olmec.org/tmvl/forum_topic.php?topic_id=107

Also take a look at the Rankings Tab from any team's home page.

Yes Quadrant refers to power rankings but it also depends whether you're home, away or neutral.

Power ranking (PR) is simply points scores minus points conceded and ranked 1 to 32. Quincy are no. 1, Columbia 2 and the Panthers are no. 30

If you are at home and play a team with a PR 1 to 6 then it's a Quad 1 game. If it's a neutral court then playing teams with a PR of 1 to 8 is Quad 1 and if you are playing away Quad 1 matches are against teams ranked 1 to 10.

Heehee...I prefer my description of quadrant lol
