Season 5 - Session 2 // Trials and Tribulations
Posted by Allan Sellers on Sunday, Apr. 17th, 2022 at 12:02 AM

Here are my Trials and Tribulations (and notes) from this week:

1. Always control the WGM Cup Schedule.  NEVER allow Mike Halpin's Bananas to be in my group again. He's just too good!

This probably means we need one of those 'random' live cup draws for next season...

2. Also, don't allow your wife to be in your group either...

3.  Am I the only one just a little scared of Paul's photo.  I don't want to meet up with a young Paul in a dark alley...

4.  If you are encouraged or discouraged by your results consider who you played.  Sometimes you may have a schedule where winning 1 match that session would be very lucky with the opposition.

Currently Mrs. Sellers is watching the viewer and telling me all her results.  She also likes to complain every time that in the viewer she'd like to see the "faster/slower" switch on the viewer swapped.  I hear it every match.  I've told Max about it...sigh...please pray for me...

Again, if you'd like suggestions, ideas, or tips about your roster and coaching/recruiting ideas please let me know.

Sunday I will get something together for Mr. Campbell...

I'll try to remember to tell David which players should "go sit up in the stands and wach some Neftlix" like CB would suggest...

One more item to add regarding the code determining the "best passer"...

Steve identified a scenario where if you have two RCV numbers tied and a non-tied one like: 15, 15, 16, the code was putting the 16 as 2nd best and put the 15s as 1st and 3rd.

I've fixed this for next week where the 16 will show as best passer in this type of tied situation.  Thanks for identifying this Steve!

Really helpful Al, thank you.

Thanks Al, this helps us newbies.

Thanks for the feedback David and Mike! If anyone else would like some analysis via my ramblings, please let me know or post here.  :-)

You've got to do this for everyone surely?!? :)

Craig Bucknall on Wednesday, Apr. 20th, 2022 at 1:09 PM

Loving your feedback Al, I've had a little time on my hnds this week so I've wqtched them all now. Would appreciate it if you caould give some feedback for my Red Pandas, maybe after the next session?

I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the first round of recruiting so I can see what sort of numbers we're looking at to sign players.

Not sure what happened to my a button there...

Roy Rolsten on Wednesday, Apr. 20th, 2022 at 2:28 PM

Roy: Thanks and sure,  I will put something together after this weekend!  Please remind me if I haven't in a week.

Dallas Bulldogs Analysis

Some team analysis here for CB:

Can't believe I've only just seen this!!!

I LOVE the analysis/feedback Al, for all teams, not just mine...

I also chuckled a few times too which is always good :)

One question....realistically, how many players could be maxed out through the season? I know this is linked to success but for a team like ours (guaranteed to have an excellent win ratio of course...last session excepted) what do you reckon?

By the way, thanks for doing them, much appreciated.

Love

CB

You are welcome CB!

As far as players getting maxed out, I'm not sure.  I would look to the "high priority" skills per position and try to max those out on the good players.  Then, for some of the lesser (less used like an OH setting) skills maybe just throw an XP on them at the end but those don't need the priority.

I say that as I may never max out all the skills for a player.  I focus on the key ones used.

Sort of think about translating a stat to a skill: Serving to SRV.  Receiving to RCV.  Attacks/Kills to ATK.  If they are used a lot (like a Setter is always using SET...pretty much on every offensive play) then coach them a lot.

Keep asking if I'm not helping with that answer...
