S2Q4 - How many competitive recruits can I sign per season?

There are 3 more sessions where you can acquire competitive recruits - Sessions 7, 8, and 9.  There will also be an opportunity to discover recruits in sessions 10 and 11 (see the rules for more on that).  

There are 42 players in competitive recruiting and with 16 teams that comes out to 2.625 per team.  Few teams will get 4.  Some will.  One already has. 

Below is the current rule:

Competitive Recruits - Max of 4 per season

Each team is allowed to get a maximum of 4 recruits in this competitive recruiting format for the next season. Any players still needed after Session 9 can be added using the Recruit Discovery feature.

For this season we revamped the recruiting process quite a bit and added the ability for you to sign your own recruits (discovery phase in sessions 10-11) but at lower star ratings (3, 2, or 1).  To be clear you can get more than 4 by dipping into the Discovery process (and that's okay).  The roster limits are now 20 max per season.  

I think the 4 max still feels like the right max at the moment, but I can be argued out of that position and appreciate feedback.  For this season it was a combination of:

1) It was in the recruiting code and meant more work to test a new number

2) Again...seemed like the right number for now.

We've got our 4 locked up at Teutoplis. Not sure if we went too fast, and we didn't get a true star (5 star), but 4 4-stars seemed like one strategic way to go. We shall see!

I like 4, for whatever that's worth. I feel like there's a great competitive  feel for the recruiting process, and it feels realistic. If we all hit our target number, it starts to feel like a draft.

It will be interesting to see how teams adjust with fewer RP next season.  Thus far, with 3 recruiting sessions still to go, the league as a whole has spent over 13k more RP than we've earned.  Each team is only guaranteed 1375 per season (@ 125/session).  Barring massive post-season payouts, several teams are already guaranteed to be well below last season's starting totals.  Add in that some of us are going to have to spend for off-season recruits at premium 3* prices if we don't just want a lineup filler, and the bleeding is yet to be stymmied.  I am going to take a guess now that Season 3 will see us start with a collective 18-20k less RP than we started in Season 2.  That will have an immediate impact on how many recruits can be pursued, and how many will earn 1000k+ bids in sessions 3-5 next season.

A small/good code check would be to not allow (or cancel) bids for teams already at 4 commits. It appears I can place bids this week, even though I maxed at 4 commits last week. Maybe this is already in there at the bid processing step, since that is where other calculations get made (cancels due conditional bids, reduced bids due to prior spending in same session, etc). Thank you!

Ha!  Mr. Cabral you are the reason I started this thread on Sunday.  Once I saw you hit 4 I had to verify I had communicated what is in the recruiting code to "max out" at 4.  Luckily I did.  The purpose of all that and this was to ensure you knew up front not to get involved in any step 1 or step 2 'waste' of RP.

You are absolutely correct.  The recruiting code that runs in the same program (just after matches) handles it this way:

TEAM ALREADY HAS RECRUITED 4 PLAYERS THIS SEASON!!

So that could occur "in session" if you had 3 coming in, get Lot 1 and then might win Lot 5 for instance.  The code won't let you win Lot 5.  

I like your idea of another code check, especially now that we have this multi-step recruiting process.  I started to add a task to do this for next season and was thinking of some complicated logic, but instead...I just added a BIG NOTE IN RED and also greyed-out/disabled the Save Orders button.  

Please give that a try Mr. Cabral!

Taking this a little further though...our Rosters can now be 16-20 for next season. So that means while it is 4 commits in this competitive phase you CAN still add a 5th or 6th recruit in the Discovery phase...
