XPs & Walk Ons

I'll have a go but you MUST seek advice from others too. I am a tactical genius but otherwise a bit thick, anyway, here goes:

XPs

1) Click on the XPs-Walkons tab at the top of any page

2) Look at the XP-AVAIL column. These numbers are how many XP you can spend on each player to increase their stats.

3) In order to increase a stat/skill they must have room but no need to worry too much about this because if there's no room it's greyed out

4) To increase a stat/skill just click in the tick box next to that skill

5) Use as many/all of your XPs per player as possible - the XP-USED column gives you a running total as you tick the boxes to increase the skill

6) Each skill can only be increased by 1 (so if you could increase a skill by 2 or more, touch....as I have found out. Oops)

 

Walkons

This is where I'm a bit sketchy, anyway.....here goes

1) Each season you'll need, as far as I'm aware, 4 new players to replace your SR's who disappear to enjoy a life in the sun

2) As the instructions tell you, look at your recruitment page. You are looking for red text as these are the areas where you must recruit a player to fill that area of your roster for next season

3) Hopefully you won't need more than 1 because you'll have recruited at least 3 through the season

4) The first one is free and can be a 3 star (just click on the down arrow below Walkon #1 and select the 3 star for the area you're lacking in

5) You use Walkon #2, 3, 4, and 5 to recruit players in the other areas where you're going to have gaps next season. Walkon #2 can be level 3 or 1, Walkon #3 can be level 2 or 1, Walkon #4 can be level 2 or 1 and Walkon #5 can be level 1 only...be careful though because Walkon #2 to 5 are NOT free

Spot on Craig on XP.

Walkons - just a little extra: you only need 4 if you have 16 players and 4 are seniors - which is the case for the vast majority of teams, or in my case 17 players and 5 seniors. 

Cincinnati have 17 players and 4 seniors do only need to recruit 3 more - which they have and all 5*. How did we let that happen? However James should still take the free 3*.

If you're taking 2 walkons they don't have to be both 3*. If RP is a little short you can take the free 3* and pay for a 2*. Just skip walkon #2 and use #3 for the 2*

My Transfer Portal tab appears to be down.  Or was there another place to drop my NIL offers to brib... er, encourage, clearly underperforming Anglerfish players to seek greener pastures, or swamps, to reach their max potential?

What happens if I have XPs left over? Do they carry over to next season?

Do I only focus on the higher rated players so B- to A+ as an example or do everyone on the team?

Sorry thought of another question after hitting Submit.

In rehards to walk ons, I only have area in Red, would I just get the 3 star or should I go for a higher star? 

Should I think about getting more players for other areas even though I don't need them? I've noticed there are no injuries in this game.

Hi Matthew,

The answer of your question about XP and next season (It's on the rules page of this site): 

"XPs do NOT carry over to the next season. Use them or lose them..."

And about your question about the walk on and a 3 star or higher: If I understand it all correctley a 3 star player is the highest ranked player available for a walk on.

Only relevant to Pierre this season, but new managers can also recruit a free one star walk on.  You have to pay the RP cost up front and email Al for a refund

Matt, I can think of three reasons you might want to pay for an additional walk on even if you have your minimum 16 man squad.

1. Because you can see that player filling a gap in your squad now or in the future

2. To give you more chances of getting a good set of dice rolls from Olmec

3. To give yourself the option of recruiting one fewer player at some point over the next four seasons

I'm not sure I find any of the reasons compelling enough to spend the RP, although I did that the new manager free one star last year so I could recruit less players this year if I needed to. Of course, it now means I have to recruit five players in a season at some point...

The best argument I have for an additional walk-on is to have 3 players each at RS, S and L, as well as the minimum 4 at OH and MB.  This allows you to rest players (mainly seniors and juniors)  in the the early season 3 game sessions to gain a fitness point rather than use CP.
