Is Fit too expensive and under used?
Posted by Steve Turner on Sunday, Dec. 19th, 2021 at 10:00 AM

My team has all but one player on Fit +1. New Orleans are next with nine. Many teams only have a couple. Some that I've looked at have only used Fit on their Freshmen and others have gained Fit through the 2nd and 3rd sessions by rotating three players.

Is Fit too expensive? After all it takes 16 CP too increase Fit on a senior player. That 16 could could be used on other players to increase Skill. Fit is lost at the end of the season but the Skill  increase is permanent.

However Fit increases the Skill of all the player's attributes. Take Wyatt Robinson, a Junior,  for example. For 12 CP his most used 5 sttributes (he doesn't Set much) are increased by a total of 74 points.

I think Fit could be priced higher.

Sorry - made this poll active for just 2 days. Al?

You are okay Steve.  It looks the 2 day thing may not be enforced here.

Allan Sellers on Sunday, Dec. 19th, 2021 at 2:52 PM

It was clear after the FIT 2 approach that 2 was too high. I'm still interested in seeing more with Steve's approach and the advantages.  I would have voted "not sure need more info" in this poll.  :-)

I'm not sure if the amount I 've spent (which I don't know) justifies the loss of CP used on players. Just wish i had a 3rd OH.

Steve Turner on Tuesday, Dec. 21st, 2021 at 3:03 PM

I'm one who has so far just used the FIT on my freshmen. I agree with Steve that if you keep the player at FIT +1, the CP for it is very affordable. If you're in doubt about whether you can ensure not playing them that third match, then the calculation becomes different. Then again, if you aren't sure about being able to keep them from that third match, they're going to drop to -1 anyway, I suppose.

Maybe I'm not the best to weigh in as Antioch has suffered several seasons of mediocrity to start this league, but I just can't fathom spending CP on FIT when those CPs are desperately needed to coach skills. The only way my players' FIT goes up is if they don't play. And with the introduction of XP for underclassmen, I try to play them as much as possible.

Rob Peterson on Thursday, Dec. 23rd, 2021 at 8:44 PM

That's one of the things that makes this a great league to play in. There's so many different ways to play.

Steve Turner on Thursday, Dec. 23rd, 2021 at 11:00 PM

84 CP spent on Fit according to my calculations. Probably too much but we are only a win behind Quincy and St Charles in the Conference, are still in the TMVL and WGM and are 2nd= overall. Time will tell how much this hurts development.. Those 84 would probably have been used on 6 skills on 3 players. The same players have gained about 15 most used skills and other top players about 7 or 8 though Fit.

I don't think we could have beaten S Charles on Christmas Day without it.

Steve Turner on Monday, Dec. 27th, 2021 at 12:59 PM

After reading this post last year, I started to expand my FIT coaching options. I'm still on the fence about it, echoing Rob's reasons for not doing it. It's a nice experiment, though, and agree there's plenty of different angles to play this game.

Mike Halpin on Wednesday, Jan. 5th, 2022 at 2:21 AM

I see Quincy have 8 players on FIT +1 and hardly any players CP'd.

Steve Turner on Saturday, Apr. 9th, 2022 at 10:33 PM

Welll...yeah...but its not like any of them are in the grade A range or at B+.  :-)

I'm a Fighting Crab FIT convert.

Mike Halpin on Sunday, Apr. 10th, 2022 at 2:22 AM

Had to go with 'just right' as don't have much to compare it with really.

I think I'll probably underuse it as prefer permanent increases.....however I am no doubt missing a trick.....74 is a BIG number.

Craig Bucknall on Sunday, Apr. 10th, 2022 at 11:55 AM

I spent 32 CP on FIT in session 1 and planning on 16 this session. 48 CP is probably 3 or 4 skills maybe for their junior and senior years. Short term fit is definitely worth it. Long term *shrugs*

But that's what makes this game great to play.
