I've only ever been to two ManorCon's. The first was in 1989 in Birmingham. I'd not long started playing Diplomacy in Springboard and they got a team together - except only about four of us turned up. I'd never played ftf Dip and in my game was Rob Lozinskij (spelling def wring) who I'd heard of. I'm very shy socially and was like a rabbit in headlights  I was France, Rob Russia, Andy Bate (who used to play MSWL United) was Austria and it turned out two well known players were Italy and Turkey. Started well with a 3 way EFG alliance then I stabbed Germany, and attacked Italy. R/T were fighting and teamed up to stop me. I kinda panicked and the game ended in a 6 way draw (time limit) with me on 9, R/T on 9 and 12. E/G on 1 each (I felt bad and kept them alive) and I on 2  

I played a couple of other games before driving home in the pitch black in pouring rain with only about 8 months driving experience and a road map to navigate and with a stonking headache. I even left Birmingham the wrong way.

Tje second time was possibly the first time it was at Leicester.. I can't remember anything except I didn't play Diplomacy.
