Well, Come to SEC
Posted by Roy Rolsten on Thursday, May. 25th, 2023 at 9:51 PM

After reading the 2 Year Gap article I had a look at some of the recruiting over the last 3 seasons.

I know Cincinnati have been doing well but no-one is even close to them when it comes to recruiting 5 star players.

They've signed nine 5 star players in 3 seasons. I haven't looked at all teams but the next closest I could find was Burlington with 6.

I had a look at the 'new bosses' though:

Baton Rouge signed 5, St Charles only 2 ( they signed three 4s), New Orleans 5, Antioch 4, Nashville 5, St Jose 5 (all with a special skill) and Sheyboygan 3.

Some of the 'old bosses' still just below the 'new bosses' in the stats: Quincy 4, Columbia 4, Spokane 3, Carlsbad 3.

And to complete the mighty SEC teams: Merritt Island 0 ( but eight x 4 stars, 4 with special skills), Teutopolis 2, Kentucky 0, Starkville 1

And finally in a category all of his own: Dallas 2

The SEC is ALWAYS full of great teams. This was the first season where the Bananas haven't run away wtih the conference title, but the conference as a whole has always been very well stacked.

I always enjoy Roy's trademarked "Welcome to the SEC" recruiting comments.  😎

Agreed.  JT and Cincy will be scary good for the next few seasons!

Senator Mike could dominate each season but I think he has tried to be nice to give others a chance.  Maybe not for much longer.

I definitely think though we are transitioning from "old warhorses" winning a lot each season to strong chances for newer teams to do well (see Cinci and San Jose last season).  I would add that recruiting and CP (and XP!) use make a big difference of course to how teams grow.

We have a current T7 listing.  Maybe we need a "potential" T7 listing to track future juggernauts?

I'm certain CB likes to be in a category of his own.   👀  👀

Winner.

Uniqueness is good.

We are not sheep, we're dogs. Woof.

We just kind of figured out recruting this past season, so hopefully we wil improve. Hey, don't laugh, it only took us 7 season!

Mike Cabral on Sunday, May. 28th, 2023 at 2:42 PM

i've realized Ive always taken the approach of building a consistently solid team, enough to winn a good percentage of matches, but not so strong as to consistently win against the big T7. The Bunch could, probably, put resources into our own T7 and really compete for the big titles, but we'd then be stuck in a several season rebuilding cycle. So far I've enjoyed the balance, but as Al says, maybe not for much longer! 🤣
