Just remembered this...and Al is clearly a masochist running all these different leagues so you never know, he might fancy setting up something like this as well.

I did have this idea for a different way of doing things: rather than just manage a team, to try and capture a bit of the off-field activity that goes on by having each competitor (ie us, the humans) be manager of one team and chairman of a different team. The manager role would encompass team selection and coaching, while the chairman would look after buying and selling players and backroom staff (including conversions). Chairman would also be able to hire and fire managers (so you might need ideally a slightly bigger pool of competitors than teams.)

On top of the normal objectives of winning things, the manager could have the objective of moving to a bigger team (and clearly not getting sacked), and the chairman of taking as much money out of the club as possible.

This sort of set-up would probably benefit from a bit more off-field complexity, say including grounds improvements.
