Crikey, looking at the second division you have to wonder why are some of these teams not in the top flight. It is an exceptionally tough division this year and whoever ends up getting promoted will truly deserve it There is perhaps a real incentive this year to escape the second tier and get into the top flight where life might actually be easier! So which teams will be going up? It's a really hard call, but if I had to put money on it....
st FC United: With a T11 of 12.46 it is hard to see FCUM not getting promoted as that T11 puts most premier league sides in the pale. In Loic Claessens they have an outstanding keeper and the forward line led by Captain Chuck McCall is shall we say formidable. Alongside McCall, stand Kyle brides and Michael Symes, both exceptional talents. No money left in the bank really, but they shouldn't need any further reinforcements to this squad.
nd Harrogate: T11 12.09. You have to fancy the chances of Harrogate getting promoted as they have a very strong team. Like FCUM they have very little money left and an injury to either Captain Pope or Valentino in midfield, might scupper them as the Beavers then only have apprentices in midfield to fall back upon. It might be worth a few teams playing 10 hard in midfield to put a hole in the Beavers Dam.
rd Luton: Get my final pick of the promotion spots. They only have a T11 of 11.73, but they do still have some cash to bolster their good looking squad. The attack led by Lillian de Gall is scary and Luton will be relying on their ability to outscore the opposition as their defence looks a bit frail. Having said that they have yet to concede a goal in the league, so I might be doing the Luton backline an injustice.
th Burton: With a T11 of 11.82 and a bulging war chest it would not surprise me if Burton get promoted rather than one of the three teams I placed above them. The defence which includes a top keeper and sweeper look sound, although there is an app sweeper to be trained up. Creatively Burton might struggle as they don't have star quality in the Fw or Mf areas, but the war chest can be used to acquire some.
th Welling: Welling have a strong all round team and should be there or thereabouts. Their only weak link is maybe sweeper Sansom, but as the club are currently almost bankrupt, they will have to rely on him!
th Chasetown: Another team with a T11 above 12 and every chance of getting promoted. Their star player is keeper Aaron O'Neill and giving young apprentice keeper Kyle Dixon game time is clearly going to be a problem. A decent youth team run will be needed to alleviate this concern, otherwise there is not much to stop them (other than a lack of cash)
th AFC Rushden & Diamonds: A T11 of 12 and a decent wad of cash could see them doing much better than my prediction as they have a solid defence, they just lack a cutting edge up front as two one nil losses already suggest. Glen Ruddle needs to find the net to get his confidence boosted in the next few games.
th Hyde: Are possibly too reliant on Captain Vargas in attack. they have a decent defence and keeper and a midfield that other sides in the division will envy, but with no sweeper and no plan B, there options are a bit restricted.and could see them going down.
th Kingstonian: They have a decent attack led by ageing Captain Joel Lorimar, but even with his experience it is hard to see them staying at this level, especially with a schoolboy keeper being trained up.
th Swindon: T11 of 7.82. Poor squad....little money......no attack.......no chance........
