![]() | Olmec Hates Steve? I wish Olmec hated me more... Posted by |
With a win over Droylsden in the Session 10 opener Mr. Steve Turner will win his first MSWL United 2 League Championship.
As you know, "Olmec Hates Steve Turner". Steve has trademarked that phrase over the past 15 some-odd years.
But it could end in 5 days. What happens then?
When Steve complains about Olmec do we just chalk it up to Dave Dohm-like crocodile tears?
Good luck to all in the final session.

Good find on the match day mag, Al.
Which actually reminds me: when I asked for Ilkeston Town all those years ago I hadn't realised the current real team was just Ilkeston F.C., the original Ilkeston Town having been wound up for unpaid taxes.
Would it be possible to change the team name that would run through the whole history (I'm assuming that all database references to the team are a teamID number).
It would be a nice reward for winning the league :)
As for Olmec hating me - either "he" got fed up or fortune in general is shining down on me since I found out I'm to become a dad again as not only Ilkeston, but Forest, Deveronvale, AC Sapone, New England in the all the other games have simultaneously changed fortunes. Even Fall River won a game 1-0 in OASL after being outgunned 18 chances to 2.
Life's good.

Steve, the mention of Fall River caught my eye. I grew up there and still live one town over!
Until this post, I had no idea they ever had a team!

Because I am a pessimist at heart, I see the cloud behind every silver lining. Perhaps all this truly is an Olmec evil scheme to strike Steve with the most stonefaced blow to date. Envision thos scenario:
Ilkeston loses two in heinous fashion, including an undeserved penalty to fall to Wim and Dave in the final. 32 pts, less than 8 goal differential.
Ian goes win-draw. 32 pts. Over 8 gd.
Dave and Alon both win two matches each. 32 pts each, both at 8+ gd.
End result? Just needing a draw to win the league, instead Steve falls out of the top 3 entirely.
Gotta love this game.
Best of fortune to Steve as he seeks his first league title over the powers-that-be. May Olmec be napping and forget about you until the final whistle is blown.
