Sponsorship
This is an idea I believe that Mark Creasey originated in SESL.
Each team earns an amount (amounts TBD) for meeting their sponsor's criteria for league matches.
The sponsorship a team has can be 'drafted' with order to be determined (such as division finish and/or top-11 with the idea that the teams that finished lower or have lower avg SL get the first choice and so on).
Sponsorship offers
Below are examples of what we could do for each division.
- Most goals scored
- Fewest goals conceded
- Three consecutive shutouts
- Three consecutive wins
- Three away wins
- Three away draws
- Three away shutouts
- Best disciplinary record
- Fewest goals conceded away from home
- Most goals scored away from home
- Finish top 3 and/or get promoted
- Avoid relegation and/or bottom 3 finish
Again, all of these are for league games only. We could expand this to finish in specific Cups as well.
This is the start of the discussion. I would likely need help with monitoring this (as opposed to automating).
Please provide your thoughts and ideas.

for me it's a good idea, you could think of something like that if you don't reach your goal, the following season the sponsorship offers will have a lower value

I'm happy to volunteer to adminster this if it gets off the ground.
Ideally there should be ten categories, so the first order of business is to decide the ten. Does anyone have suggestions to add?
[I will cross post this on MSWL 2]

Roberto, I don't think your suggestion is workable because it would mean teams were stuck with their sponsorship package from season to season. The idea is to make it fresh, each season, with a new draft based on whatever ranking was decided.

I really love the idea aswell. Alway good to add something fresh into the game to help keep it spiced up. I like the idea of the draft too with the weaker sides getting first pick to help them obtain an easier sponsorship package, I'm assuming too that if you fail in meeting the criteria you won't get the sponsors cash, so peole will have to draft a package carefully to make sure they can achieve it.

There are ten teams in each league so the most sponsors should be is around five maybe six for each league, the idea is not for everyone to get a sponsor I assume?
i like the idea and it has to be a one season purchase only, got to be careful not make the wealthy more wealthy with this though, some players don't partake in some discussions, how do they feel?

I don't think it's bad if everyone gets a sponsor aslong as some if them are more difficult to acheive as you can only assume these sponsorships will get left in the draft to the top teams.

There should be ten packages per division otherwise it unfairly penalizes the clubs finishing at the top. And there can be similar packages so that weaker clubs have something they can achieve. For example, one package might be for scoring 30 goals in the league offering 300k and another 20 goals in the league offering 200k.
Roberto, I admire your persistence, but for the reasons posted above, I don't believe your idea - albeit interesting - is workable.

The sponsor is not free to draft though as it's an auction to purchase them?

It's an auction in SESL but I assumed it was going to be drafted here. As I said in the other league I like the idea of 12 choices so that the last pick gets a choice rather than being stuck with a difficult pick.

The idea was a draft rather than an auction. I like the idea of 12 categories, too.
I need to put together a draft (!) list of sponsorship goals and rewards. Watch this space.

Could be used to incentivize going after the top squads too. Blanket, league-wide sponsorship 50-100k bonus for every victory over last season's champ? In addition to the 'team-specific' options to draft? I don't want to flood the league with cash, which creates different problems, yet it seems that given limited resources and playing of T11, there could be room here for some added payoffs if you are willing to risk the T11 in a match you could lose anyway. Keep the top 2-3 teams from facing weakened lineups while managers have to save the stars for the lower hanging fruit in order to get CP from wins.

I tell you the truth...I have never understood 100% of any statement Kevin Martin has made since 1997.

Great idea and I like the draft method more than the auction.
I would prefer a fresh draft each season with say 4 of the sponsors being randomly dropped and replaced each season to freshen it up.
Not convinced the draft ranking should be based on money in the bank as an earlier pick should give you an advantage over a later pick to help you strengthen and money wouldn't be as good an indicator of the strength of your team as perhaps T-16 might be.
That all said, let's get it up and running and see how we go.
