I have been getting some help from the Game Design Committee as we explore many of the topics from the "Just One Thing" forum thread. Sadly the committee declined to discuss Phil's 3-point line suggestion.

Our first change is this:

Gk and Sw bonuses will be maxed out at +3 (rather than +5) starting this season.

There were perspectives that perhaps we only focus on Gk bonus and also perhaps we lower Sw "stopping" chance thresholds. Or to even cap the Gk/Sw SL at 15. I sort of tried to meet everyone in the middle with the above which was also a preferred option by 3 or 4. So this is an incremental change in my mind that we can evaluate to see if it does what we hope it will and reduce some of the extra impact the Gk/Sw positions have with the +5 bonuses. Again, its a step, not necessarily the final step.

This will be an orders page only type change for me. So I'll be (trying) to make it ahead of when we wrap preseason auction 2 on 12/31.

If you don't like the rule you can blame me only. I decide on the final approach based on all the input and what I can implement in a timely way.

My research suggests it's not going to have a major impact on the game apart from making it slightly easier to score in very specific cup finals.

Honestly a good thing, we have far too many strong keepers in finals so this will reduce the possibility of so many saves and help create an Argentina v France scenario , bring it on

I like this. Like John said, it might not have a huge impact, but should make cup finals at least a bit more interesting.

For anything that takes this further (or any other change), I will try to give more advance notice especially where there's a big impact.

Just to try to illustrate this better as I had a couple of questions:

So where it used to be a +5 of "add on" points for Gk and also Sw, it is now a +3 for each position.

So really nothing about the roster/player base skills change. Its just that your in-match decision to use hardness or GPP or PFD is limiting for Gk and Sw.
