 | Is 56 Attacks without a goal a record? Posted by |
Eduard's Welling failed to convert any of their 56 attacks in a 3-nil loss this week to Alon's Shepshed Dynamo.
But was it a record? No.
This is an area where the history stats are a little tricky to decipher. But I did find the gem below. The only "goals" for the team with 87 regulation and extra time attacks didn't come from any of that but the PK Shootout score of 3-2 for Halifax so justice was done against a Dave Dohm team I guess?
This was from Season 4, Match 27. There are more but I don't know how many in front of Eduard's example this season (again, tricky capturing of these stats over time). I'd guess 10-15.
Of course the Dave Dohm takeaway from this whole exercise will be an email showing up in my inbox tomorrow with Dave complaining about the conspiracy against his team on not getting any goals in 32 attacks...from season 4...sigh...

Well we did have the better GK, so we do feel hard done as our friend Compo would say.
And 2 red cards playing 2 hard.......I've seem certain teams play 10 hard and not yield a single PK
Attacks wise? I'm not sure. But you gave me a MSWL-2 history database awhile back, and the unluckiest game of all time? By far??
Harrogate Railway AFC should have scored 7 goals against Chippenham in Season 3 and drew 0-0.
In Season 21 Tranmere generated 59 attacks on Ian and lost 1-0. Most attacks generated in a loss I can find.
Whereas Halifax and Wimbledon were roughly evenly matched.
Also looks like Halifax also have the most (regulation) attacks generated in the DB with 65.
Also, as they say, it was just a "happy accident" or coincidence that I found a Vick v. Dave match to highlight. Certainly nothing intentional here from the commish... 😎
Thanks for digging that up John. I struggled to find a great table/view to help look at all this. Glad you were able to find some things and also highlight how mean Olmec is to our poor Beavers!
If I had 87 attacks without a goal, I'd probably quit.
