![]() | the Good Pub Guide: Halifax - The Three Pigeons Posted by |
Not everyones favorite bird and not sure why this pub is named after three of them, although it does also seem to have three chimneys. A nic pub anyway for Bedford supporters to cral into to drown their sorrows when we knock them out of the cup this week

Hopefully Compo has a booking for the night...

A game for car journeys (not motorways!). If you pass a pub you score runs for the number of limbs in the pub sign. Hence the three pidgeons is 3X2 legs = 6. If there are no limbs then you are out and it is someone else's turn to bat. You can argue if wings are limbs!
Ie The Kings Head is Out. The Kings Arms is 2. The King William is 4.
Arguments will occur when you pass the Coach and Horses. How many horses? Look to the pub sign for guidance.
It might work quite well for baseball as well.

Ah, that makes sense. Unfortunately, we don't have the pub naming culture here in the States that would make it worthwhile to play here. And anywhere you might do it would probably be a city (like New York, Boston, or Philadelphia) where you'd more likely be walking instead of driving.
