This is a post on both leagues. If you are in both feel free to comment in one or both.
Each season, around the midpoint of the season I often have the same thought: What's the point of these mid season auctions?
We have 8 auctions each season. Two are preseason. Six are in season (session 6 is the final one).
If I get an Age I/10 player in Session 6 its a little bit of a waste as I can only CP 4 times to get to I/14.
If I get a high SL and old player I may want to just sell him in a couple of sessions.
I don't want to completely blow up the current format.
However, I'd like ideas on some fine tuning (or just tell me I'm wrong and its fine as is).
Some potential ideas that come to mind:
- Frontload auctions (more players earlier in the season; less in later sessions)
- Specify younger players for earlier in the season, older ones later in the season
Feel free to expand on those or post your own ideas (which I'm sure will be better).

i quite like the auction system as it is. Of course it is always nic to get those players you want or need early on, but if not you have the choice of hanging out for those players who might never turn up or buy some other useful types who have come up. Don´t forget people also have the option of buying players straight from other clubs. Managers could try and make more use of this.
If I was to change things I would just make it a small change maybe by adding two more random players to each of the pre season auctions. I don´t think the balance of younger or older players needs to be adjusted.

I think it's quite fine as is.
As for your example: if you pay an I/10 in S6, you know what you'll get.
Of course, the expected price is lower for obvious reasons. The value is still there.
Minor tweaks I would like are all to reduce the luck factor.
E.G. I would prefer if all auction players would be visible from the start (i.e. auctions 1 to 8, as in TMVL recruiting).
Another point I'd like would be a more consistent offer, i.e. no pure junk auctions, somewhat guaranteed GK/SW offers, etc.
Both would allow for a more strategic approach to the bidding process.

As I posted on MSWL 1, I don't think anything is wrong.
The market naturally prices players lower in session 8. I also prefer the completely random element to it, means no one can get an advantage.

I like Eduard's idea of having somewhat more consistency.

Don't make any changes that disrupt the player/SL balance in the league. A butterfly flutters it's wing in the forest and Ian can get an extra GK...

Front loading a good idea.... BUT i just NEVER have the money early on!

Eduard makes an interesting point - if all auction players would be visible from the start of season this would help my tactical bidding and planning for sure.

I do like the random element of it. You never know what player will be available when in real life...
