![]() | Option of a 6th BRB................ Posted by |
Since I obviously cannot gameplan very well I have turned to rule change ideas. I know some of you (Al and Ian) will immediately discard it just because I came up with the idea but hear me out. What if we allowed for a third youth coach, essentillay allowing 6 BRB's to be utilized in a given season. Each session the manager has the option of either utilizing his groundsmen for home advantage for that session OR utilizing a third youth coach instead to help develop his youth. Obvioulsy if a team didn't have a home match in a given session they should utilize the third youth coach. But if you had 1 or more home matches you would have the option of not using your groundsmen and utilizing that thrid youth coach. This would be a strategy decsion for the home teams. I think this would increase the value of the BRB slightly and maybe merit the min auction value to where more teams would bid for BRB's. I also think it would allow teams on the road to field a more competitive team as they wouldn't have to worry about playing one more SBY or APP as they could youth coach them. I think this would also create more of a challenge when game planning as you wouldn't necessarily know if the home team would elect to use their groundsmen to get the 9 point boost or elect to youth coach. Let me know your thoughts as I am sure I haven't thought of any negatives to this proposal.

The groundsman BRB adds 2 to your home bonus in one of the outfield areas per home match. If you decided to use a youth coach instead, you would be able to sit one of your youth players and play a T11 guy instead. For any team that is not in complete rebuilding mode, that is all but guaranteed to mean that you are playing an older player that is at least 3-4 SL higher than the youth player. For CRD, for example, I have to sit SL 12 players to play my apprentices. If I could use a 3rd youth coach and ignore the groundskeeper, I would be guaranteed at least 2 SL, and up to 8 or more if I could sit a Schoolboy. The issue would not be whether or not to choose to play the 3rd YC instead of the GM. The only question worth asking would be: Why bother to have a groundskeeper on my team at all when choosing to use him would hurt me in youth development AND in SL I can put on the pitch?
