So with all the games for the season complete, who did Olmec finally decide to like the most and which team did it want to see buried in a pile of mud? Fo most of the season Olmec was quite infatuated with Watford, but this changed radically in the last session when Watford lost it's last two league games. Games they should have won. Watford still wnet on to clinch the second division title, but mabe we should have seen this coming as Olmec was beginning to show a fair degree of favoritism to both Bristol and Plymouth at this point and left Plymouth (12) top and Bristol (11) second in the unadjusted love table based solely on points gained from Olmec's love. These teams were followed by Southend (9) and Brentford (9) and Lincoln (8). Once the points stats are adjusted for favorable cup home draws, unjustified red cards and penalties and bad injuries the final table looks a little different. It seems Southend (22) is Olmecs favorite club and that's interesting given Dave Dowson's style of play. Their opponents not only suffer more bad injuries, but also get more players sent off through no fault of their own and give away more penalties! Lincoln (20) come in 2nd and Olmec was certainly trying to help them win a trophy with plenty of home draws in the cups and dubious penalty decisions in their favor. Similar for Hereford (15) and Watford (15) who share joint 3rd place in the table. My own team Weston (13) came in 5th due to the number of bad injuries opponents collected in Weston's games. Given Weston's average hardness was only 0.73 this seems quite unfortunate for the opposing teams. Brentford were the team that suffered the most this season with bad injuries, thus peppering the liberal doese of love Olmec showered upon them in selective games.
And down at the bottom of the table we find Oldham (-13), Lewes (-11), Tranmere (-11), QPR (-10) and Leicester (-8). Interesting to see two of the unholy trinity in the unadjusted bottom 5 and quite remarkable that Tranmere still went on to win the league. The youth cup run clearly helped in this, but all the same Alon clearly deserved to win the league this year. When these figures are adjusted we find Leicester (-10) at the bottom of the pile followed by QPR (-9), Oldham (-8), Tranmere (-6), and Derby (-6). So QPR can at least feel justified in stating their relegation to the bottom tier on the whims of Olmec.
If you want to see the final table I will try and publish it in the forum tomorrow. Note the youth cup games were not included in the table formulations, on the league and main cup results.
