As good as Tranmere are they seem to be very unlucky in the opening round of the FA Cup each season. In fact, the Rovers furthest reach in the FA Cup has been the Quarters…once.
Other than that its been two Round 2 exits.
Meanwhile they have won or been in the final of 5 of the 7 FA Shields they have participated in.
So the question isn't who will win, Cardiff or Tranmere. Its HOW MANY goals will Cardiff win by?

Tray mere always throw in the youngsters in an attempt to build up fitness levels and win the easy FA Shield Trophy! You all know my feelings on this but until the shield cp is reduced then fair play to Alon.
Right and let's be clear on Compo's feelings here guys. He hates it and wants a rules change when he goes deep into the FA Cup. But when he plays in the FA Shield I receive no such emails from Compo! (laughing)
I don't know if lowering the CP is the right thing to do (maybe it is), but I do agree that the FA Cup needs to be highlighted more if it is to be treated like the #1 Cup in the league.
