Today we focus on Lewes and their dark criminal underbelly. The bird in the Crest is a Rook and is also the club mascot as the birds frequent the Dripping Pan ground. A bit like the Tower of London it is said that if the birds ever leave the ground then the club will fold. Kind of imagine Lewes without Dave Dohm and you get the drift....Thr Rook in the crest wears a red shirt which is one of the two main colors of the club. The other being black naturally as we all know their manager is a practitioner of the dark arts. The castle tower in the Crest represents Lewes Castle from where you can get an excellent view of the ground and avoid having to pay to get in.
The club was originally formed at the Royal Oak pub back in 1885 and originally played in light green to reflect the scenery of the surrounding South Downs. results at the time were said to be mediocre. Apparently in a game shortly after the war Lewes played against the Royal Irish Rifles when they found themselves short of a goalkeeper who was incarcerated in Lewes prison at the time. Luckily for the club he was allowed out for the day to play in the match, escorted by two guards who stood by watching, one on each post. So if Samir is unlucky enough to get injured this season then Manager Dohm knows where to look for a replacement.

This illustrates how important football is across the pond - a prisoner allowed a temporary furlough to play a match. Love it!

Our personal favorite logo of the lot, but to be honest that bird is a penguin. For those that know me well I am a Penguins fan.
Love this write up Vick.......great for the league!
Looking forward to continuing the rebuild back in the top division.

Apparently, in Lewes the players are better at football than at drawing!
