![]() | Proposal: Average Youth SL Posted by |
I'd like to propose another stat category for Average Youth Skill Level.
This would function like the existing T11 and T16, but would only average the SBY and APP players from each team. Perhaps each SL average value could also be followed by the number of youth players for that team in parentheses. For example:
Team YSL
Brighton & Hove Albion 4.11 (9)
Crewe Alexandra FC 4.54 (11)

Understood...and am playing devil's advocate here (in case it matters)...
Some teams "may not" bring up SBY/APP players until later in the season...so is that of interest/does it matter?
Probably not...and may be interesting info...just mentioning it.

I would find this of interest and it may be a useful tool to easily gauge which teams are doing what in regards to Youth Development. For those that do subscribe to continually [re]building youth, it might also be helpful to have a T8 column (or T8Y3) that indicates a typical lineup value [average] as many teams are playing 3 youth per match (usually when not involved in Cup matches that session).

I have always liked this idea, cool to be able to handicap the Youth Cup. Also get an idea who is "rebuilding."

First Youth Cup I won was with five fully trained apps. Second Youth Cup I won was with two SBYs who only played in Youth Cup games. I'm not sure the stat is indicative of anything.

John, you're not telling us something. One has to play a minimum of eight youth players during the Youth Cup matches. If you played 2 SBY's then you had 6 APP's; 5 [fully trained] APP's does that mean you had 3 SBY's? Perhaps competition that made it did not have the caliber players that you had. In any case, it would not be intended to be a ranking for Youth Cups but instead it would serve as a running indicator of how or if the youth development is occurring with a team.

I coded this a while back to store it in the database. I just need to add it to the stats page/table. That's a page where I need to do an upgrade on first. So this should be coming soon, but a few "irons in the fire" right now.
