Entering Orders - Miscellaneous
Posted by Allan Sellers on Wednesday, Jan. 28th, 2009 at 12:19 AM

For entering orders, I'm going to only allow the "upcoming" session to be available for entering data.

Trying to go beyond that will result in the orders page not functioning in an optimal way.

However, we know that there will be times when people will be on vacation/holiday and will need to send orders in advance.

In those instances, I or a separate volunteer will help.  Manual orders would need to be emailed well in advance (of course...otherwise you should enter them) and specify 2 players per match that could fill in if a player has become injured/suspended.

I will ask for volunteer if/when I need them for that.   But its something we'll offer.

The above works because I can control the info for the next session with notifying you of suspensions/injuries/etc.  It will also allow you to avoid putting in lineups that would result in errors and require more work from the simulator.

If, however, through a trade or something unforeseen a manager tries to start a player who can't play due to injury/suspension, I will either disallow the player from playing or play them at a level of 0 (not sure which I'll do yet).  The latter would allow them to get injured/suspended further which may be a good penalty.

Either way though it should be rare, I just need to try to account for it.

This is more informational than anything, but feel free to comment.

Al

This might not be too much of a headache. If you adopt a method of forward team selection all an absent manager would need to do is suggest use of cp's but as they will not know exactly how many cp's they have then some discression will have to be left to the GM or excess cp's could be carried over to the next session. If any player is then suspended or injured then the next strongest available player replaces him in the team.

This should be a very rare accurance though with the availability of computers around the world I cannot see how a player could not get access to the net for 5-10 minutes to make their moves for the week, even if it is a bit of a rush!

I think we'll have to try this out and review it's success / ease of use at the end of Season 1. The places where this should really only come into play are when folks are going on vacation for a week+. I, for example, am going on vacation for 8 days in March. If not able to enter future lineups, then I would definitely have to avail myself of the volunteer services...

Alan,

How are you intending to use physio's and entering of other orders. Do you have some more cleaver code programmed?

Is it at the stage where we can have a look at it yet?

Trevor Taylor on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd, 2009 at 10:46 AM

Physios are used automatically during the game I believe

Check out a match report Trev

Df Zachary Willis: Chance of injury = 5.5% | Random number = 0.2 (INJURED!)
Targeted fitness lost = 6
Zachary Willis is being assisted by the Physio. He will lose 5 fitness points (deducted at end of session)
Zachary Willis new match skill level = 4
