Last season, Preston North End FC became only the seventh team to riase the League Championship trophy. Of those seven teams, only two of them have won more than a single trophy: Lewes FC has claimed the prize six times, while Tranmere still hold the record with seven championships. Tranmere still hold the record for consecutive league titles at six (seasons three through eight).

Preston did set a few records last season. PNE is the only league champion to finish a season with zero losses (16-2-0), and the only team so far to achieve fifty points. They also set a new record for most wins (16), goal differential (41), and goal scored (61).

Lewes still holds the record for fewest goals allowed by a league champion with nine (season two).

Season eighteen saw Preston North End finished what is arguably the single greatest season in league history, having won the first ever treble (League Champion, Alan Parr Cup and Youth Cup).
