Season 40 - Year In Review...
Posted by Allan Sellers on Saturday, Mar. 12th, 2022 at 1:17 AM

LEAGUE

Alon re-established himself as the top dawg this season by winning the 1st Division.  This is League Title #14 for the Rovers who have now won 3 of the last 6 1st Division titles.  I know I may sound a little mean to Alon at times, what with his Evil Empire card and all that, but he is an awesome manager who does an amazing job.  Whenever you are fortunate enough to defeat his team you feel a sense of accomplishment.

QPR (Dr. White) and Northampton (Compo) won the 2nd and 3rd Divisions respectively.  James White wins everything so no surprises there as the Rangers finished #1 in the U1 rankings this season.

Meanwhile "Sir Compo" (as he has asked me to refer to him as) just won the first title in "anything" in U1 since Season 32 (way back in 2019 when we all lived a carefree non-Covid life).  Can Compo build on this 3rd Division title?

AP CUP

Cup Finals almost always end in a PK shootout.  This one did not.  John Holden's Port Vale made it past JT's Watford 1-nil to push The Vale to 2 AP Cup Trophies.

FA CUP

The FA Cup featured two wily veterans in Outlaw Crocodile Tears Dave Dohm and Colin Replay Scott.  Neither team tried to win in regulation so this was decided on PK's as Mr. Scott won 6-5 to earn FA Cup #2 for the Blues.

FA SHIELD

This competition got a CP reduction thanks to the many seasons my good friend Alon Atie intentionally lost in the FA Cup to win this competition.  But I'm not bitter.  :-)  Hazel had 2 FA Shields coming in, while Mr. Vick Hall had none.  In the end the Seagulls knocked off the Foxes 3-nil to get Vick the title.

YOUTH CUP

This competition is the most important one in United.  If you can make a deep Youth Cup run you get to build your youth players easily and then focus your best on the league matches.  In a close match, Dr. James White's Rangers snuck past Boston Robs Argyle 1-nil.

HOW DID THE I-MAN DO?

As you all know I like to poke fun at my good friend Ian who has been to my house on 3 different occasions and three different cities here in the US of A.

Ian finished 8th in the rankings.  He was 6th in the 1st Division.  He made the Quarters of the FA Cup and Semis of the Youth Cup.

Obviously it is not my intention of putting a spotlight on the I-Man and focusing on all his really terrible results this season.  No one is suggesting that.

Thanks for a great season everyone.  More to come soon on timing for season 41!

Al

Considering the strength of his team, and terrible run of luck with injuries and GK red cards, the i-man did very well thank you very much!

I too would like to pat the I-Man on the back.   The world is against him but somehow he did well?

I support you, Ian.
